Seeking seafood hole-in-the-wall in Charleston

Just realized that I violated my don't-start-a-new-thread-before-checking-if-a-similar-one-exists rule. Anyone have anything to add to this one?

Seeking seafood hole-in-the-wall in Charleston

Heading to Charleston for a weekend and will likely visit one of the budget busting places that are well-represented on this board. To balance things out, would love to find, if such a thing exists, a quirky local place, ideally with some combination of great casual character, outdoor seating, reasonable prices, and seafood. A friend recommended Bowen's Island, which seems perfect in theory, but I've read some sketchy reviews. So maybe what we're looking for is someplace like Bowen's Island when Bowen's Island was actually good. If that makes sense. We can tolerate less-than-sublime food if the overall experience compensates. I know that's a tall order but would love to hear your thoughts! Thanks, everyone...

Please Help Us Find a Chapel Hill Wedding Venue for June!!

Hi all,

My gal and I are planning a Chapel Hill-area wedding for approximately 150 guests in June 2010 (soon!). We're both new to the area and thus not up to speed on our venue options. After a certain point, Google tends to repeat its results, mostly in uninspiring Yellow Page-ish format. But always the optimists, we're convinced that there's some place out there that we just don't know about yet.

In no particular order, our criteria are:

- Within 45 minute drive from downtown Chapel Hill
- Primarily outdoors, with indoor option in case of bad weather (and so my grandmother doesn't overheat)
- Able to bring in our own caterer (I've already seen that Allen & Son does weddings!)
- Quirky without being inconvenient or too weird. (Subjective, I know. We like the idea of a farm/barn, and I've romanticized the possibility of finding something like an abandoned schoolhouse, defunct social club, or shuttered historical society building that we can clean up.)
- Cheap.

Thus far, here are the places we're going to be calling and/or checking out:

Ayr Mount
Carol's Garden Inn
Celebrity Dairy
Elodie Farms
Forest Hills
Happy Trails Farm
New Hope Camp
Pine Lake Pavilion
Sarah P. Duke Gardens & Doris Duke Center Garden
Snipes Farm
Spruce Pine Lodge
Valhalla Retreat Center
The Inn at Bingham School

Pretty conventional, I know. Would love to hear from anyone who has any other suggestions. Thanks, everyone...

Recommendations for well-made cocktails?

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions. Looks like being sober is out of the question...

Recommendations for well-made cocktails?

Sorry if this has been covered--using 'cocktails' to search the board wasn't working for me.

I plan to visit Boston in September, and I'm looking to visit some places that care about their cocktails, either in the classic sense or innovative-but-not-offensively-experimental sense. I'm not picky about whether it's a restaurant or bar, but I am picky about bartenders who know what they're doing.

To give some references (in case anyone is familiar with NYC, where I'm coming from), I'm partial to places like Pegu, Little Branch, and Death & Co.
