I really like the pizza at Gialina or their sister restaurant Ragazza. And the non pizza food items are very good too. Also like Zero Zero and will be going there Friday with some fellow Dodgers fans. |

Very good point. The other big race, I think, is the NHRA race which is happening this weekend. (July 27-29). I have found the crowds, from a winery perspective (in Napa and Sonoma) to thin a bit post Labor Day. But I worked at appt only wineries. The real slow down is post mid late October until about Spring break. |

That's post Labor Day so crowds in Napa on the weekend shouldn't be a big deal. What should be of more concern is that some of the smaller Sonoma Cty wineries may not be open early in the week, while their Napa counterparts are generally open 7 days per week. |

College Graduation Dinner for 14 People in East Bay Pizzaiolo will do large groups with enough notice. However, the "set" menu is family style - salad, pasta course and all you can eat pizza. You can add other selections off the menu at additional cost though. I've done large groups at Camino too which would be the upper end or maybe just above your range. Limited menu as well. |

Salumi from Boccalone or chocolate from Recchiuti? |

Cool - I've just given up on them unless Traci and I are going strictly for the mussels and fries. |

Banh beo & banh cuon, Tay Ho, Oakland - any reports? The owner, whose mother does the cooking, is fairly young and she happens to like wine...and being a supporter of the east bay, well, Urban Legends. The Urban Legend wines are pretty good across the board. And very nice folks too. I've only eaten here once, but did have a conversation with the owner about her love of Urban Legends Rose...which Traci and I loved too. We keep meaning to go back together - Traci's been back a few times with some of her friends. |

Went to Haven again last night and I'd say check it out. Quieter than Wood Tavern (which I love btw), more creative food and easier to get into plus a much larger bar. Meal last night rocked. I like A Cote but really only for the mussels/fries. The rest of the menu, the last two or three times I have been, has been really average. |

Food at The Trappist in Oakland Good question. I think they do Tacos one night. But I have never eaten the food there. I would start there with a beer or two and roll over to Plum after |

Hana Japanese in Rohnert Park is my favorite in the region by far. Otherwise, i go back home to So Cal for really good Sushi. ----- |

Third on Emilia's. |

We've gotta try East End. Heard very good things about it from someone else too. |

I guess I do find it a bit more casual than Pizzaiolo. But correct on the reservations. ----- |

I would add Gialina in SF and you could substitute Boot and Shoe Service (Pizzaiolo's more casual eatery). ----- Boot and Shoe Service |

Would agree with Wildflower Bakery. Well inside your 45 min radius. |

Girls Weekend in Napa - need help with restaurant and winery list I would consider the following wineries: Outpost Winery (Howell Mtn appt only) - terrific Cab, Zin, Petite Sirah and Grenache Lagier Meredith (Mt Veeder appt only - terrific Syrah and Rose of Syrah Seavey (Silverado Trail/St helena) - Cab, chardonnay. Great tasting Phelps is a very good option. Wide range of wines and beautiful patio. in Yountville Kapcsandy makes terrific but pricey wines. Appt only Restaurants - skip Fish Story. Just ate there and boring. Same with Angele. Morimoto and Oentri great options. If you do feel like going a bit further north, head to Yountville for Bottega or any one of the Keller properties. ----- Morimoto |

Thinking of Leaving SF for Berkeley or Oakland. Crazy? We live in Rockridge near College and Claremont Ave's and love it. Here's our list of stuff, much of which has been covered. Grocery/Speciality Items: Restaurants And nearby in Temescal and nearby on Piedmont (walkable if you are more south Rockridge): Dopo, Adesso, Commis, Gregoire, Bay Wolf. And there are a host of interesting Korean restaurants within a couple of miles. We're close to downtown Oakland and places like Shan Dong with great pork buns. Wine Shops Bars: The Graduate - cheap drinks and free popcorn (definitely divey) Plus we are close to BART, close to the freeway (hwy 24)...housing is definitely a little more expensive around here though. ----- Dopo Bakesale Betty A Cote Vintage Berkeley Wood Tavern Paul Marcus Wines Wine Mine Bay Wolf Restaurant Marica Seafood Restaurant Enzo's Adesso Commis SR24 |
