Old School Watermelon

I was told on Tuesday that the crop is nearing its end - so hurry! Sienna also has a small shop off of Tremont St. next to The Butcher Shop that is open everyday.

Old School Watermelon

Sienna Farms (at Copley farmers market on Tuesday and Friday). They are small- size of a cantalope, but they are the BEST watermelons I've had since childhood. Seeds - yes, Sweet- very, Red goes almost all the way to the green. Amazing. I've bought at least a dozen melons and each and everyone was terrific.

Sushi Grade Tuna

I purchase it from Whole Foods (Symphony). You have to ask for it at the fish counter as it is kept in the freezer.

Castelluccio or le puy lentils

I bought French Green lentils at South End Formagio this past week, but they do not specify nor seem to be of the same high quality as those from Le Puy. They were acceptable however. They also had beluga lentils.

Best Tuna Tartare?

Mistral - I can't believe no one has yet mentioned it. Complex asian infused flavors with lovely crispy onions on top.

Italian Meatballs

Though I cook a lot, I have never made meatballs before. I was attracted to this recipe because of the real ingredients - fresh herbs, real garlic & onions (versus onion soup mix, etc that I saw in some other recipes). They came out fantastic! I had to experiment on how much to mold the balls - the first few were too loose and cooked more like hamburgers than meatballs, but I soon got the hang of it. Those that were beginning to fall apart in the browning process, firmed up nicely when simmered in the sauce (I made your basic sauce too). Thanks for a keeper recipe.
