Need cool place open Sunday

I have a friend in town and we can only meet for dinner tonight (Sunday). Does anyone have a suggestion of a great place to eat that is open on Sunday? Thanks.

Best Oyster Poboy?

Domilese's is great for an oyster loaf. The Parkway Bakery os also very good, but it's a bit pricey. I had one a couple of days ago and it was over $12.

Best Restaurant for a Splurge Girls Night

I'd go to Galatoire's. Table loads of chatty women always seem to have a great time there. Commander's will cost about double and it doesn't have the "good time" atmosphere of Gal's.

Need St. Augustine advice

I'm in St. Augustine for a month and could use some advice on where to eat. I have been to O'Steen's (great fried chicken and shrimp) and The Oasis, but have many meals left to enjoy. I'm value-oriented and tend to prefer "funky" over "high end." All suggestions will be considered. Many thanks.

Brunch/Lunch in FQ on Saturday?

I'd take them to Galatoire's. Mid-afternoon is the perfect time to go and I think it is the quintessential New Orleans Creole dining experience. If you don't drink a bunch of alcohol, ot won't set you back too much.

1st timer lookin' for local fare..

Don't miss lunch at Galatoire's, a defining New Orleans dining experience. Also, the Camellia Grill has reopened and is a great burger/omelette joint well worth a visit. It's on Carrolton Ave. at St. Charles. Also, don't forget to have coffee and donuts at the Cafe du Monde on Decatur at Jackson Square. Unless you're planning a trip out in the country, I wouldn't rent a car, as it will cost a lot to park it at the Ritz. Also, the potholes can be disastrous if you don't know where they hide. Cabs will be cheaper in the long run. For fun, try the Rock 'n Bowl on Carrolton at Tulane Ave. and the Maple Leaf on Oak St. Both great places to dance and listen to good music. I did a short video about the Camellia Grill reopening. Here's a link:

Great new sushi buffet on St. Charles

I was pleasantly surprised when I visited the St. Charles Japanese Sushi Buffet near the corner of St. Charles and Jackson Ave. the other day. I mourned the passing of KanPai on Canal and Carrolton after it got washed away.I was a regular there. This new place has been a godsend. Excellent, fresh fish cut just before it goes on the platters and an amazing variety of superb rolls will fill you up. The area dedicated to cooked food is also impressive. And their desserts are wonderful The surroundings are pleasant and the wait staff couldn't be more accomodating. I highly recommend this place for sushi on a budget. At $12.99 for lunch, you can't beat it. And it even has free valet parking.

Fried chicken in Alabama or Mississippi?

The fried chicken at Mama Lou's in Robertsdale is the best around. The restaurant is only open for lunch from 11:00 until 2:00. It's located about 7 miles south of I-10, just off Highway 59. You would take exit 44 south off the Interstate. It's open for lunch every day except Saturday and well worth the slight diversion off the INterstate.

Great sushi meal/deal, know any others?

I've been lucky enough to find a very groovy sushi restaurant that has incredible fish, seasoned chefs and a very pleasant environment to consume as much sushi as you can hold, for a fixed price that is most appealing. And it's not a buffet kind of situation, each thing you order is prepared from scratch when they get the order. I sat in there on Sunday and ate a bunch while catching up with the trades. they have restaurants in Studio City, Sherman Oaks and Encino. I've been going to the one in Encino, but recently discovered there's one nearby in SC. Being a sushi devotee, but reluctant to lay out a load of cash, this place is heaven to me. But I'd love to try others that might offer a similar cost-per-bite? Any suggestions? Many thanks.

Craving great Fried Chicken

I'm from the South and have the good fortune of spending a few weeks in Toluca Lake. I have a serious craving for GREAT fried chicken close to the Studio City area. I'm gonna satisfy my immediate craving with a trip to Roscoe's on W. Pico, but it's a pretty good haul. Not that I mind a drive for some spectacular yard bird. Any thoughts would be appreciated. By the way, sushi is another of my culinary obsessions and I tried Midori's on Ventura Blvd. for lunch recently and was really surprised. They have an all-you-can-eat deal at lunch for $19.95. It's not a buffet. You order whatever you want, whenever you want and they just bring it on. I figured I must have eaten over $50 worth of fish and I paid only $19.95. A very cool place to my way of thinking.
