Recommend private room for biz event dinner in Manhattan

I think you'd need to tell people how many guests you're thinking of inviting (some private rooms will fit 30 and others 130), a guide to budget, whether you're talking about a sit down meal or something else and who these elusive guests might be (what kind of industry or the ages). In the meantime, here's a list from opentable of restaurants with private rooms

Cafe Sabarsky at the Neue Gallery on 86 st & Fifth is a charming spot and has some nice sandwiches and salads. There are also some options inside the Met that might work.

You could try the new Lamb's Club at the Chatwal hotel. They're serving a 3 course prix fixe for $65.

Rockefeller Center area recommendation? Beacon, Brasserie 8.5, Triompe, Glass House, Nios, Ca Va

What about the Modern or the Modern Bar in MOMA? Morrell's Wine Bar is another idea. I assume you realize some on your list are not that close to Rock Ctr. and are more in the theater district.

Upscale pre-theatre dining walking distance from Irish Repertory at 132 W.22nd

The area around the theater tends to be more arty/trendy than upscale. Periyali is a good Greek rest. but exactly upscale imo.

If you're willing to walk a bit, places like Union Square Cafe, Gotham Bar & Grill and Gramercy Tavern are probably closer to what you want.

I believe roxlet means Trattoria Dell 'Arte. I agree with RGR it would help to know what kind of food and budget you have and what your idea of "festive occasion" is. Loud and fun or quiet and romantic? Trattoria is good for the former and Petrossian is good for the latter.

Weekday lunch, great food and maybe a garden?

Have decided to give L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon a try. Good idea?

Weekday lunch, great food and maybe a garden?

Hard to find that combination. Budget not an issue. Must be Manhattan but any location is ok. If compromise is required, the garden will go as long as it's light and airy. A sidewalk table is not what I'm after. So far I'm thinking Jean Georges but it doesn't have to be fancy, just good. TIA

Dinner Near the Metropolitan Museum of Art

It's a very high rent district so expensive and there aren't that many options right nearby. King's Carriage House is a few blocks away and I think they have a prix fixe dinner for around $50/person but that's no drinks, tip or tax. Le Refuge is very nice but also can get pricey. Caffe Grazie is right across the street on 84th, but I'm not a fan.

If you don't mind a 10 minute walk, head uptown on Madison to 92 st. to Table d'Hote for a nice French meal.

Cheap chow around midtown (57th and 7th) for dinner?

Roberto Passon (Italian) on 9th ave. & 50th has some good pasta dishes. Pumpkin ravioli very good. It's crowded pre and post theater but at 8 pm, much better.

Times Square dinner take-out? and wine?

Menupages.com has a feature that lists restaurants with delivery. Any place that delivers will also do take out. Really depends on what you want to eat. If you want Virgil's, just phone them to see if they do takeout.

I can't think of a liquor store near TS. Found a list of several on 9th ave. as you guessed.

North Fork, LI recommendations needed

Jedediah Hawkins Inn is terrific. I like it for lunch-a bit cheaper, a bit less "precious" than dinner. They have a great lobster roll!!! They're near a few of the nicer vineyards (and serve local wine).

Where should 50 women eat in Manhattan?

If you all want to eat together, you're going to have to book a private room in a large restaurant or hotel or take over an entire restaurant for the evening. There's no restaurant that would be able to handle serving a group of 50 within the main part of the restaurant. Either way, it's going to be pricey. Does that $50 include drinks?

I suggest you contact the catering dept. at BR Guest. They own a chain of reasonably well respected restaurants of all sorts and are good at catering.

You also might want to investigate either chartering a yacht or going on one of the larger ones as a group.

Where are you all staying?

Whatever you're planning, I hope you're making arrangements through group sales departments of various suppliers. You'll save a lot, esp. for things like theater.

Lunch before Wicked with 12-year old girls

If they like cheesecake, there's a Junior's (famous for their cheesecake) on 45 st. just off Broadway. A bit closer to the theater, Maison is a French brasserie with everything from good burgers and omelets to salads etc. The address is 1700 Broadway but it's actually at 53 rd St & 7th Ave. Have not had the desserts there.

BEST BAGELS IN NYC

I just had a bagel this week at Sable's on 2nd ave & 77 st. I thought it was amazing. Up til then, I thought Ess-A-Bagel was IT, but Sable's blew me away. The cream cheese with chives was also fab. They're known for their fish, but I didn't have any.

Caviar Russe?

I've only had lunch there. This place is so off the beaten track that you could find yourself almost alone (I think). They have a sushi bar/sushi chef, which is a good option for non caviar eaters. Have you considered Petrossian?
