Cafes & Bakeries in Miami

BocaHerb learned how to make lots of money on the internet so I said good bye to having to deal with employees, landlords, traffic on the way to work, and getting up at 4 AM everyday.

Argan Oil Fav. Uses?

You can get a free trial sample of Argan oil, I read about it on this site http://arganoiladvisor.com my wife loves it and we love the dip she makes from it

Kosher dogs

Hebrew National hot dogs, which are Kosher, are sold in every supermarket down here. I doubt that they are sold in South Carolina.

Allen Susser - Delray Beach?

The news doesn't look good for Taste. I predicted back In March that his menu wouldn't appeal to many people and now they are reduced to having coupons on the front page of Clipper Magazine. I never saw any "gourmet" restaurants couponing in that magazine before but there they are just in front of the coupons for the Tropical Cafe. Not a good sign

Looking for something interesting near West Orange

Thanks Curlz....great coffee chip ice cream will make my trip!!!! And Ah' Pizz sounds good too

Looking for something interesting near West Orange

thanks. I will start checking out Montclair. I don't drink so I won't miss not having a bar

Looking for something interesting near West Orange

I'm going to be up that way for one night next week and I would like to find an interesting place to eat at that is different than I'm used to in South Florida. It could be anyplace within 25 miles or so of West Orange. I like Italian/pizza, steak, deli, or barbecue

Cafes & Bakeries in Miami

I was the manager of the original Andalusia for a couple of years after Jesse sold the bakery. The reason why everything collapsed was because the new owner wasn't happy with the original bakery in the Gables, which was unbelievably profitable, he wanted to create his version of Balducci's down here. He expanded himself into bankruptcy but I saw the writing on the wall and opened my own bakery. I can get you guys some recipes but unless you have a 60 quart mixer they aren't going to work. If you let me know which ones you want I will create a home version of our cakes.

NY style pizza within a 50 mile radius of West Palm Beach?

The one on the NE corner of Glades and 441, near Boston Market, is Brooklyn Boys Pizza and it has excellent NY style pizza

Charm City Burger Company, Boca

I got there about 6:15 this evening and the place was kind of busy. They had just one guy behind the counter, taking orders and making shakes. By 6:45 the place was freaking slammed. I'm talking about every table full and at least 30 people on line. I was surprised to see how many people just came for shakes. I have never had one because I can't eat a burger, fries and have room for a shake but they must be outstanding if people just drive over for them. That same guy was doing everything by himself but he stayed calm and to my surprise nobody was complaining and nobody walked out. The burgers and fries were great and they're worth the 25 minute ride I take to get there so I guess people don't mind waiting. When we left there were long lines from both the front and rear doors and I kept thinking that would be in deep doo if a fire marshal walked in

Five Guys Burgers and Fries in Boca

I don't get the whole Five Guys Burger thing. They serve mediocre burgers at best. Just within walking distance of the Boca Location there are far superior burgers at Brewzii's, the Cheesecake Factory, and the Grand Lux Cafe. The one time I ate there I saw that there was no way I was ever going to get a medium rare juicy burger and that for some reason they serve a double burger instead of a thicker juicier one. I guess their burgers might be better than McDonald's or Burger King but that isn't saying much. I'm not impressed by a good grilled cheese sandwich, I haven't thought about having one of those in the past 20years.

New Delray - Formerly Buschs

J can't believe that Burt is going to invest $2.4 million to build a Max's Grille in west Delray in an area surrounded by retirement communities. He better have some serious early bird specials. going all night

dining in Boca

My favorites are Ristorante Sapori, City Fish Market, Truluck's, Renzo's, Mateo's, Ruth's Chris, and McCormick and Schmick's. You won't find a bad meal at any of those places

Wolfgang's Steakhouse in Miami?

The Peter Luger in Brooklyn has been in business for 133 years, in one of the most competitive steakhouse markets in the world. It is in an out of the way location. They don't take credit cards. They are booked weeks in advance. There is no steakhouse in the world that could make Peter Luger look like McDonald's. I like Bern's, I had a party for my wife down in their wine cellar, it isn't in the same league as Peter Luger.

Wolfgang's Steakhouse in Miami?

I don't know what you mean by "CUT" but I just checked out their website and they took off any reference to a Miami location. Wolfgang's is a Luger clone run by Wolfgang Zwiener who worked for Peter Luger's for 40 years. It is so good that I no longer make the trip out to Luger's in Brooklyn when I am in Manhattan on business. They are about to open their third location in Manhattan. There is nothing in South Florida that comes close to Luger's or Wolfgang's.

Wolfgang's Steakhouse in Miami?

Wolfgang's Steakhouse was supposed to open up in Miami last Fall, according to their web site. It would be the closest we would ever get to a Peter Luger's down here. Does anyone know if it's ever going to happen or did their deal die?

Boynton seafood

It isn't on the water but you can't go wrong at Snappers seafood restaurant at Congress and Old Boynton Beach Blvd. Great fresh fish and at reasonable prices. I usually take the 35 minute trip from west Boca at least twice a month and I'm never disappointed. It's one of the few restaurants where my wife and two very picky kids can all find things we love to eat.

Allen Susser - Delray Beach?

How many people want, shell bean and ham hock stew with their scallops? My wife and I eat out every night but we never felt the need to find a place that served carbonated cucumber gazpacho or yuzu-aioli. In general the ingredients listed in a good portion of his menu won't appeal to the vast majority of the market. We'll see how it works out over the summer when things slow down.

Lobster in Boca

The City Fish Market in Boca has great lobster, especially the flash fried large size Australian lobster tails.

BEST mojitos and pisco sours?

The best Mojitos are served at Cabana El Rey on Atlantic ave. in Delray Beach. It's not even close.

Allen Susser - Delray Beach?

That menu has a very limited appeal and I doubt that it will last too long. I can't imagine two couples, who want to eat out together, with all four people finding something that appeals to them. No successful restaurant in the Boca/Delray area has such a narrowly targeted market. I recently sold a small chain of restaurants and my wife and I eat out every night but I wouldn't go near that place.

Bakeries????

I live in Boca Raton and the only good bakeries I am aware of are the Flakowitz in Boynton and at the Boys Market in Delray. I grew up in New York at a time when every neighborhood had a great scratch bakery. Are there any other good bakeries around that I'm not aware of?
