Wine pairing for Asian-flavored dinner Its a tall order to work with Asian food for wines, since the flavors are usually so diverse and intense. Here's a link that may help. |

There isn't a tried rule for Sangrias, once you have your basics set with an appropriate red wine, brandy, orange liqueur, sugar, orange & lemon, you can go experiment what kind of fruits you like to go into your Sangria. Some bars just use whatever they have left in the kitchen to make it work. And regarding spices used in the Sangria, I guess it depends alot on the kind of red wine you use. |

Singapore - IGGY's or JAAN PAR ANDRE Iggy's seconded. |

What should I learn to cook in Shanghai? Not too sure about the difficulty since it might be quite tedious, but if I were you I'd definitely try to learn to prepare Hong Shao Rou which is a traditional Shanghai delicacy! Rich in flavour and absolutely divine in meat texture, its my favourite Shanghai dish. |

Lovely suggestions everyone! Planning to go traditional this time & maybe go with the tres leches direction. amazinc, would love it if you can post your special recipe up! Thanks everyone. |

What simple cooking mistake inspires disproportionate rage? A tinge too much salt is always aggravating! Especially after working everything else to perfection. |

I never eat _______ out because nobody makes it right but me. Chawanmushi - Japanese Egg Custard. Making them myself is the only way I'll get my golden ratio of goodies inside this delicacy. |

What to do with leftover duck confit Absolutely! Rillettes was just what I was thinking. Infuse it with a little orange and you have the perfect spread over any bread whatsoever. |

Hi All, Planning to prepare a mexicano dinner together with the family, and am totally clueless to what kind of dessert should round off the meal. Any suggestions for mexican-inspired desserts? |

Another point to note is that the amount of water to add into your recipe and the rising time is dependent on the climate you are baking in. Humidity, Temperature all play a part in the baking process requiring you to tweak your methods ever so slightly all the time. |

Now that sounds pretty amazing! |

Favorite Margarita Mix Recipe? Usually I just go with Jose Cuervo Reposado, Cointreau, Cane Sugar and most important of all, fresh & good limes. After getting the basic ingredients right, I think its more of putting heart into making it then the recipe. |

New recommendations for Shanghai dining Nooo, why'd you have to bring hof up? People are going to flood the place more than it already is. At any rate, I agree. hof is a great little secret for those that know it. Hands down my favorite place to be after work. Their cocktails paired with freshly made truffles are just divine. Cha's is also an excellent choice for supper served canto-style. |

What type of port wine do I use for a roasted duck recipe? Interesting. Will try ruby ports for some of my recipes similar to the cherry duck next time. |

best food thickner for homemade chocolate milk? yeah definitely corn starch, commercial bakers use it all the time. |
|

Big party, Everyone brings a big salad or any type - what would you bring? I think you can definitely go Asian if you want to offer something different. Try a Thai salad as previously mentioned with their usual spicy dressing, lime, & leaves. |

Best Yakitori place in Hong Kong? Wa Wai is seconded! Love the feel there. |

SHANGHAI and TAIPEI for a solo traveler -- any recs? I would go to Cha's at Huaihai Lu at least once for a late night supper. They're open even till 2 in the morning and its Hong Kong food with a 1970s teahouse feel. Really very fantastic and a good contrast to the bevy of Shanghai food you're probably gonna be having! |
|
|
Singapore - Any good food at Ion Orchard? Yeah its Watami! My friends are all fans though, hope I'll be one too next time i drop by Singapore. |

Oh yes, forgot about Jones the Grocer. They have quite a decent selection there as well. |

under-used treasure or garbage? what ingredient do you think people are wasting? Woah the Indian Risotto does sound good. Hahah too bad I don't have much whey from cheese-making since I hardly ever make them. |

A Slight Rant: Silly Pizza Rules Hmm well its definitely the restaurant's choice. If it bothers you that much, patronize another? |
|

Crazy supermarket check-out experience I would have definitely made some noise, whether it helps or not. That's just plain asinine. |

Thought the piecemeal paella kit was pretty good too! How about a cocktail dressing kit if the groom likes to try his hand as a bartender at home? Couple that with some beautiful cocktail glasses and a good recipe book and you're good to go for that. |

What are you drinking right now? 2000 Taylor Port. Loves. |

Please share your favorite chocolate cake recipe! Don't have quite a recipe for you but I recall my aunt used add a little rum to her special chocolate cakes. Think it added quite some depth to it, maybe an ingredient you can play with! |

"(6) Putting wood products and expensive knives in dishwasher." Someone deserves a Punch for just doing that. Sacrilegious! |

Sun Tong Lok definitely ranks higher for me than Tang Court. Best Dim Sum in Hong Kong. |
