Dinner before a show at the Stanley Theatre?

I will second Siena. I never have a bad meal there - especially their pastas. The $36 3 course prix-fixed menu is well priced. It's my regular Monday restaurant - great food, good value and 50% off bottles of wine on Mondays.

Every week sushi?

I recently had sushi (take-out) at a friend's place. I was surprised by the quality of the sushi and sashimi. My friend (who lives half the year in Tokyo) said he got the sushi from Hamaei in North Vancouver. It is his go-to sushi place. Looking at their menu on the website, it looks very old school and reasonable prices.

Help me fill a two-hour Chow window on Monday in downtown Vancouver

How about Twisted Fork (1147 Granville)? Comfort food - cozy ambiance. Good place to sit back and read through your VIFF brochure.

Meeting boyfriend's parents for the first time (Vancouver)

Teahouse in Stanley Park has a beautiful setting and might be suitable for meeting boyfriend's parents.

Fresh Curry leaves

I've seen them in the Indian grocery stores on Main Street (between 49th and 53rd Ave). Sorry, can't remember their names.

Emergency recommendations! 4 days "Downtown Vancouver"

Gastown (5 to 10 minute walk) would be the closest area to the hotel with lots of dining choices. Other than the recommendations above, I would also suggest Brioche for breakfast ( Dinner suggestions in Gastown: Jules - French bistro ( and Cork & Fin - seafood wine bar ( are both well priced and within walking distance to the hotel. For a special evening, the Five Sails is lovely. I think Chef Dorfler and wife, Gerry Sayers, has done a great job updating the restaurant in both food and decor. They are currently offering a 3 course special $48 per person throughout the summer.

With the new Canada Line, you can also get to Yaletown easily and there are many more excellent restaurants there as well.

Revolving Restaurants in Vancouver - if you had to choose, which would you pick?

Yes, the lounge part of "Top of Vancouver' is in the middle non-revolving part. The Cloud 9 restaurant reserves around 2/5 of the revolving side for drinks and they do not take reservations there.

Looking for Yuzu Marmalade

Thanks for the replies.

We had a lead to contact Farmet Importers and so we emailed them. Within 10 minutes, we received a call back. The Yuze Marmalade can be purchased from Ploger Deli at 1900 W. 1st as well as Cardero Bottega at 1016 Cardero Street.
Maybe they might carry Christine Ferber jams and preserves as well.

Looking for Yuzu Marmalade

I have posted this question on another forum, so some of you may have already seen it.

We were recently at Refinery and had a wonderful evening.

One of the items we had was a charcuterie platter served with a little dollop of "Royal Imperial Yuzu Marmalade". It was delicious! We enquired as to where we can get this and was told that maybe Chinatown or T&T. We went to T&T, Fujiya, Meinhardt, South China Sea, Edible BC, H Mart, Oyama, Dusso's and Choices, but no one carries it. Does anyone know where else we should look? Thank you!

Recommendations needed near Hotel Le Soleil

In addition to the above, there is a vietnamese noodle shop not far from Le Soleil - Joyeux Cafe (551 Howe Street). Great selection and good value too. Website:

5 days in Vancouver....where to eat???

Also in the Kits neighbourhood, there is Bishop for fine dining and Bistro Bistrot for casual French.
