Where to get pork neck in NYC?

Yes. It's very common in Hong Kong, but couldn't find it here. I found pork neck bones at local supermarket and got them anyway. Marinated them with fish sauce, soy sauce, chili sauce, brown sugar and will grill them tomorrow night. We'll see...Thanks everyone.

Where to get pork neck in NYC?

I was just watching some Chinese cooking show and the cooks were making these delicious looking dishes with pork neck. Know where to acquire this cut of meat in NYC? Thanks.

Hoomoos Asli

I used to frequent HA back in my college days. This would be my 'after workout' treat three times a week. Yes, I even travelled from Midtown just to get my favorite hoomoos sandwich. I adore their 'hoomoos', it's creamy, fresh, and just pure joy to match with the fluffy pita. I also like to pair it with the cabbage salad and doused the whole thing with tahini. The Spanish guy who worked there (not sure if he's still there) is quick and friendly. Those were the days before the renovation, so imagine it was even 'dumpier' back then. :P I haven't been back for a few years already, but whenever I do walk by, I still remember the good old days...ordering a hoomoos sandwich and eating it at that triangular space across the street...yes, even because the beautification of that vacant area.

Taste of France at Bryant Park this weekend

Can I get the ticket on the spot? The Dumpling Festival was so crowded, lines were long...for reheated dumplings. And the Whole Foods staffs were certainly not too happy about the restroom usage.

Best bakeries (for bread)

How is the bread salty? I love bread too and I usually get mine at the Union Square Greenmarket.

Delivering baby at Mt Sinai -- Great takeout??

Note that Yo In and Yo Out isn't open for lunch, so if you're to give birth during the day, well, seek a different restaurant. :)

Congratulation and hope you'll have a smooth delivery!
Check out Kitchen M for simple panini and cafe goods, Earl's Beer & Cheese (not that you should drink right after your baby, hee) or Nick's Pizza.

Aquavit or Maialino

I read the menu and there are several salads available, and as long as there's bread for me, I'm not worried, lol. I think the most exciting thing about Maialino is the dessert. My mom liked the budino. :)

Aquavit or Maialino

Thanks for your thoughtful inputs! Like you, I looooove dark, rye bread. I aksi read that AQ bakes their bread in house, so I'm really looking forward to it. :) Based on your suggestions, I think I'll head to AQ then. A caveat is that I''m vegan, so I won't be part taking in the fishy goodness, but I''m sure my mom will and this is supposed to be a special treat for her. I've been to Maialino before for lunch and I didn't like the bread (very pedestrian) they served, but the uovo pasta? My mom really enjoyed that. The pasta portion at Maialino isn't large, so a food coma isn't my worry :P I've read some diners (from Opentable) were disappointed that it's not a plated three-courser at AQ and that the RW diners were 'stuck' in the back dining room and not the main one. I don't really mind, I mean, if you really want the most 'authentic' experience, you wouldn't go for the AYCE route, would ya?

Aquavit or Maialino

I've a reservation for either Aquavit's RW lunch (smorgabord) or Maialino. Which is a better choice?

Thanks.

He Nan Flavor is closing

Yes. Let's hope the owner finds a new space soon. We need to support these mom and pop's businesses. I can't fanthom what 'upscale' joint would replace this slot.

News broke out that He Nan Flavor will close (due to high rent) by the end of June. Go there and support this local business. Now only the Flushing location is available to us now. How sad...

Yea,the gado gado had the longest line indeed. Was the beef rendang really authentic? I got the chicken skewer (not into lamb) and the pandan cake. While the foods are cheaper, they do add up, lol

Indonesian bazaars, Masjid al-Hikmah, 2012

Just got back. I'm a female and didn't need to cover my head to go inside (and used the bathroom), but definitely must remove your shoes. It was a great turn out. Lots of local people and Westerners as well. They were running out of food 1ish already, but still got some snacks and satays going on. Friendly bunch :)

Chinese traditional pastries' lifespan

I received my package last week. If I store in the fridge, perhaps they could last longer (since I haven't broke into them yet). I shoud've opened and ate them upon arrival...

Chinese traditional pastries' lifespan

I orderd some Chinese traditional pastries from Keewah. I received the large package and just wondering how long these goods would last since I can't eat them all at once. THanks.

I ordered Pineapple Paste Cake, mooncake, and egg rolls.

highline

I'm going there for mom's birthday lunch tomorrow. Do you recommend I order from the prix-fixe or a la carte section?

Heard some of the entrees are oversalted at times. Did you find that problem?

Thanks.

Yea, I tried that multigrain bread. It's sweet, nutty and just addictive. I've to limit myself to purchase half a loaf just so I don't inhale the entire thing. :)

Best HUMMUS in the city?

I love the hoomoos at Hoomoos Asli and yes, Hummus Place's hummus ful is da best since the last time I went. How many pita did you get? i heard they've been really 'frugal' with only one? It used to be two to each hummus entree.
