Dinner in Burlington

Just returned from three days in Burlington, VT. I recommend highly Trattoria Delia. Fantastic food, wine, and service. Tuesday night there. Wednesday night at Blue Bird Tavern. Back to Trattoria Delia for Thursday night because I was so pleased the first time. I was a solo diner and ate at the bar in both places.

Food and Wine Classic in Aspen in June

My adult children are going with me so we are doing some seminars together and then others we are branching out. Friday morning is grill master (that's for my son!); Friday afternoon is Colicchio and Simmons and close out with Mario Batali. Saturday is Sustainably Delicious; How to Taste Wine like a Pro; and then Sexy Vegetable dishes with Jose Adres. I live in DC and saw him on Thursday when I was at Jaleo for dinner. Sunday is with MIchael Chiarllo. We are getting very excited.

Thanks for the recommendations! I'll check out Cache Cache (saw that Siouxchief is headed that way also); Jimmy's, and Ajax Tavern. We are staying in Snowmass. Kinds of places? Places for people watching and meeting. We tend to eat at the bar and chat with folks. Casual, rather than stuffy.

Thanks for advice about dinner after the Food and Wine Classic! If we bar hop afterwards, are there some "shouldn't miss" places. We'll be coming in on Thursday night so do you have any suggestions for dinner on Thursday to set the stage for the big event?

Sonoma for a Solo Traveler

You are in for a real treat! I was the original poster last year asking about solo travel in Sonoma. I had a wonderful Sonoma experience. I also recommend the girl and fig as well as Harvest Moon for both the food, wine, and atmosphere. In Healdsburg, I went to Barndiva and again sat outside at the bar. Everyone was very friendly and I wound up talking with people at the bars of all three places sharing tips and hints on where to go and what to see. You didn't ask about spas, but I would highly recommend Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa. If you reserve a spa treatment then you have access to the spa pool. Lunch at the girl and fig, massage at the Fairmont, and then lounge at the pool for the rest of the afternoon. Pretty perfect!

Claire,

Thank you! Your response is most helpful! I wasn't sure whether or not mass transit was available. I don't want to get frustrated about anything on this trip so any additional hints will be most appreciated. I'm bringing my two adult children as their Christmas and birthday presents. They are very excited, and I'm trying to make the arrangements.

BYOB in DC?

Some DC restaurants will allow you to bring your own bottle of wine on specific nights usually a Monday or Tuesday. They charge a corking fee. Check out Lavandou in Cleveland Park.

Good place in D.C. proper to watch TV?

Nanny O'Brien's actually has a Jeopardy! contingent who watch every night. You would be a major celebrity for the regulars.

Sonoma for a Solo Traveler

I am combining a business trip with my first time ever visit to Sonoma and am overwhelmed with the options for where to stay and what to do. Sonoma? Healdsburg? Yountville? Someone suggested a couple of nights in Sonoma and then to move up to Healdsburg. I will be traveling solo June 30th to July 4th. Has anyone done one of the Relish Culinary Adventures? Any advice to help sort out all of the options would be most appreciated.
