Nordeast-where to eat?

Thanks for the update on the head chef from The Sample room. I enjoyed their food but their service was so horrific I promised myself they would never receive another dime from my dinning budget. Love the Travail team.

Where's the beef?

The Anchor Fish and Chips, yup, for a burger. Simple burger with Irish cheddar. YUM. 1000 Hills beef. Perfect bun. Beautiful marriage between beef and bread.

Where to eat in Door County?

Skipping away from Minneapolis for a long weekend planned by my sister to Door County. I'm not sure exactly what city in Door County we are going to land in but I gotta have a list of must eat spots. Would prefer local/sustainable/organic. Where do we go? Thanks 'hounds!!

where to find dry curd cottage cheese

A friend's mom is looking for dry curd cheese or dry curd cottage cheese used to make pierogies. She indicated she can no longer find it in the conventional grocery stores. Any suggestion? Whole foods? The co-ops? Thanks, I'm just too lazy to drive around to search for it when I know there's gotta be a 'hound out there that will have this information. Thanks!

Where must I eat (preferably locally produced and/or organic) in southern VT and NH?

Hello Northern New England ‘Hounds – I have a trip planned the end of June to visit relatives who live just outside of Albany. My home is the MSP (Minneapolis) board. Along with visiting my main focus is to do some road trips to chow. My destination is not so much a specific city but good food. Driving and dinning are two of my favorite things, great people and great food, it doesn’t get much better. I need recommendations for spots with character and preferably locally produced and/or organic food. I would like to hit some chow spots in southern Vermont and New Hampshire. Any recommendation is greatly appreciated!

As I read the board, I no doubt have to find out what this Apizza is all about and it appears ice cream will be included in the journey as well. Jfood if you are out there I follow you religiously on the MSP board. For a reference point I practically live at Brassa. Any help is much appreciated!

Where to eat in Chicago

My sister and I just returned from a quick weekend trip to the Windy City. I spent hours scouring the Chicago board, making lists , taking notes and lurking around all the other posts. The first thing I need to say is listen to the recommendations from nsxtasy - from what I experienced pretty much spot on. We stayed in the Theater district and everything was in walking or short trips on the 'L' or a quick bus ride. Here's where we ate:
1. Frontera - believe it or not we were seated immediately on a Saturday morning at 11:30. No doubt the the restaurant gods were with us. The restaurant was packed. The food spot on. Guacamole was so fresh and perfect. If only we could have taken a bucket home with us.
2. Nacional 27 - only small plates. Not overly impressed. Our wish was the chips from Nacional 27 with the guac from Frontera - would have put us in foodie heaven.
3. Bongo Room - I just so can't pass up that chocolate french toast thingy they've got going on. It's so bad yet so good. I had it last year when I was there and just couldn't deviate from this indulgence.
4. Cafe des Architects - my mouth was so pleased with the wonderful flavors that danced around. Service was impeccable.
5. Fox and Obel - breakfast in the cafe in the back of the store. Cafeteria style, very casual but very good. Loved the great flavor of the breakfast potatoes. Of course we couldn't leave without a cinnamon swirl roll from the bakery. Light and delicious.
6. Garret Popcorn - neither one of us are huge caramel popcorn fans but it did win us over. If nothing else go in there just for the smell. mmmm good.
So I just really wanted to say thank you nsxtasy for all your work and expertise, it was very much appreciated!
So much food, so little time!!
