Review of Elizabeth--new restaurant in Soho

We just tried the new restaurant on Elizabeth street in soho--chef from Country, gorgeous spot, lots of buzz. I'm hoping it's just first-week jitters that made our experience with both the service and the food barely mediocre. I'm sad to say the meal was far less than great, despite the pricey check (and we left hungry).

You should know going in it's share plates, with very small portions (smaller than most tapas places). Still, some of the dishes were definitely worth it. The place is touting its cocktails. I had a tangy citrusy cocktail that was pretty delicious. The wine list is very limited (a pinot grigio and sauvingon blanc were the only whites on the menu), and there are a few beers.

The lamb was our best dish, four small morsels of medium-rare lamb with chickpeas and a tangy tzatziki. It was delicious and worth the price. The burger was mediocre, the fries were soft, and the chicken was on the dry side. The shrimp, too, was okay, and the shaved salad fresh and tasty. We waited forever for the food and for our drinks to come though. I don't mean to be debbie downer but when you're paying over fifty dollars a head, plus tax and tip, and the food is soso, takes forever to come and you leave hungry, it's kind of a letdown.

Anyone else been?

Casual Italian in Soho/Tribeca?

Giorgione and Giorgione 508 are both fantastic--on Spring/Hudson area, far west soho. Both have trerrific wine by the glass as well. The latter is more casual chic and the former is more sit down but both get loud and festive but are still intimate.

Little Giant booked--other recommendation?

Hi guys
I wanted to eat at LG tonight but called too late and they're booked. I want something fresh, seasonal, delicious with fish options just like LIttle Giant. Anybody have any recommendations?

Opinions on craftsteak

This is bound to be an unpopular opinion but I went to Craftsteak, reluctantly, last night for a special occasion dinner, and my companion and I were both THRILLED with our steaks. He had the 28-day aged, and I had the flatiron. I preferred mine, it was tender and melt in your mouth delicious, he preferred his. The service was great, and like the other crafts, there are lots of complimentary add ons (a chicken liver app, cookies and coffee cake for desert, warm buns all on the house). We ordered them medium and medium rare, and they were cooked rather exactly to our orders. We had a few sides--impeccably grilled asparagus, cocktail shrimp and some mediocre french fries that I'd never get again. Despite totally not looking forward to going I have to say I was happy and I would actually go back.

What's the worst (nice) restaurant you have been to?

Buddhakan sucks. I also hated Koi. It was like asianfusion fast food with exorbitant prices and crappy wait staff. The food came too quickly, and the sashimi salad was room temperature and tasted like humid kitchen air.

lunch and afterwork drinks, far west soho

I work in soho, on the far west side and I'm at a loss. I would love suggestions for lunch places (delivery and for meetings) as well as places around there that would be appropriate for drinks/small plates in the evening. Thanks guys.
