Thanks for the suggestions! I'll let you know where we ended up.

Ha ha, good point. We'll be staying near the Gold Coast neighborhood.
3 breakfasts, 4 lunches, 3 dinners
We're traveling to Chicago next week and need to fill in some gaps in our restaurant itinerary. We have dinner reservations already at Alinea and Blackbird, and are looking for some other fantastic can't-miss Chicago meals. We pretty much like all cuisines and wouldn't mind some ethnic options. Also, since we're already going to spending quite a bit at Alinea, more affordable choices would be appreciated -- as would anything accessible via public transit. What we need are 3 breakfast spots (two of which are on the weekend, so brunch would be okay), 4 lunch locations, and 3 dinner destinations.
Thanks so much -- I'll fill you in on where we went when we get back.
Craigie or Clio for New Years Eve
I would definitely pick Craigie over Clio any day of the week. At Craigie, you'll get beautiful, thoughtful and delicious food, and the chef will do all that he can to accommodate your needs. At Clio, you'll just get beautiful food...
I also will say that in my experience at Clio, service was sub-par. Our server was flighty, forgetful and seemed to only care about our table when it was time to present us with the bill. At Craigie, our server was charming, answered questions, asked questions of the chef and made sure we had everything we needed.
Best lunch spots around North Station
beetlebug has got it exactly right. Until recently, I worked across the street from North Station and I used to walk to Volle Nolle practically once a week. There is nothing good around at all, just sports bars, Dunkin' Donuts and Hooters.
Fun Place to eat on Harvard Square
You can't go wrong with any of these choices... though if your son is partial to sweets (and if you don't mind shelling out the cash) L.A. Burdick does an excellent and decadent hot chocolate -- milk, dark or white -- that is worth the five dollar price tag. You can get it iced as well.
Eastern Standard - Whats THE Best...?!
My husband raves about ES's Sazerac... and he's very picky indeed.
Great food in Harvard Square?
I like...
Bartley's for burgers, of course, and a frappe if I'm feeling particularly indulgent.
Cambridge 1 for the potato and fontina pizza with rosemary.
Casablanca for cocktails, appetizers and its great jukebox.
Charlie's Kitchen for some cheap bites and cheap beers, though the Hoegaardens aren't as massive as they used to be.
Darwin's Ltd. for hearty sandwiches -- my favorite is the Hubbard Park (hummus, avocado, green apple, carrots, tomato, and sprouts).
Noir for cocktails and grilled flatbreads.
Oggi Gourmet for a burger if the line at Bartley's is too long, or the cherry tomato, toasted almond and goat cheese pizza.
Tamarind Bay for modern Indian.
Tanjore for traditional, regional Indian.
Veggie Planet for (you guessed it) vegetarian, particularly the Vegan Oddlot over brown rice and the Lunch for Henry pizza.
Snacky, tasty at-the-bar dinner place for tonight? (Sat. night, near Playa del Rey)
I was just at The Del on Thursday night; it was a special experience... and not in a good way. I'm really interested to hear why people love it so much -- what am I missing?
I also ate at Bistrotek a few nights later; it's far superior, though I get the feeling the team there is still working on getting the kinks ironed out.

SF Hound visiting Boston 5/21-5/25 -Please review my planned eats
I think you were being coy when you said you have a major sweet tooth! If you end up in Harvard Square, drop into L.A. Burdick's. You can get chocolate drinks (hot or iced, in milk, dark or white chocolate) as well as pastries and other little goodies.
Skip Rustic Kitchen... there is nothing so fantastic on the menu that you won't be able to find anywhere else.
I agree with Eastern Standard too, even if just for drinks.

Personally, I was very disappointed with Clio, so if you are tempted by another restaurant I would say make a reservation there instead. After all, you can always try Clio on another visit.
Great milk chocolate?
I second the Lake Champlain and the Teuscher. If you like hazelnut, definitely try Lake Champlain's Hazelnut Five Star Bar. It's a hefty little brick... of deliciousness.
