Where to buy a Thanksgiving dinner to serve at home?

It may be a hike for you but Gerards Turkey farm in Marshfield is time tested awesome. However you would need to book soon as it may get backed up.

grilled oysters

I am lucky enough to live near the ocean and a wholesale oyster producer who has the best oysters "per se" . I love grilled oysters and would like to hear your different best grilled oysters. I love them just grilled with a splash of lemon, but i am also looking to expand my palate.

Chowing on a Disney Cruise?

Went on the cruise, actually pretty good food. Could not get reservations to the two speciality adult restaurants but "regular" dining was very good.
escargot was very very good
Food surprise was Breakfast.....ABSOLUTELY awesome. 4 or 5 kinds of smoked meats. all of the usuals (eggs, bacon, sausage, home fries...) also, mango juice, omelets to order, huge pastry selections.. smoked duck, cured hams, proscuitto, lox, etc......

Not a food destination by any means but it did not dissapoint at all...

Brining for dummies

No I agree I like it when it works I've just come to realize more that it is a less intense thing than I thought in terms of salinity and time

Brining for dummies

So I went to three sites for the perfect proportions of salt, sugar, and water (plus their recos for add ins like peppercorns, bay leaf etc.)

I used 6C water, 1/2 C salt, 1/2 C brown sugar. Boiled it ( not too long either so I wouldn't lose volume), then added in the salt and sugar, and simmered until dissolved. cooled it and then added pork loin. let it sit for 4 hours.

It sucked. Where did I mess up?

Orta in Pembroke not good

Wow...I have been to Orta twice recently and was very impressed with the food both times. I agree that hostesses were clueless but I had an osso bucco that was one of the best I've had. I also had a barollo and a malbec that were both good. Pizza's were better than average and I would def. return...
