Wine to go with Grilled Flank Steak and Halibut

Hosting an anniversary luncheon for my in-laws' 50th. We are serving grilled flank steak and panseared halibut. I have trouble deciding which wine to choose. I was thinking of Cabernet from Kenwood (California). The restaurant recommends Sagelands Freddie's Blend from Washington.

We have already picked the Chardonnay from Sonoma Cutrer 'Russian River' (California).

Which red wine is better? I like the Kenwood but I am not familiar with the Sagelands blend.

Thanks!

Waterfront Seafood Grill Pier 70 vs. Salty's on Alki for 50th

WSG is more expensive than Salty's. They also charge extra for coffee, tea and iced tea. The cake cutting fee is also higher. I have not eaten there before but I hope they are worth the cost.

Venue for 120 people for a 50th Anniversary

Thank you all for the great suggestions! I have checked out some of them and they were booked for the date the in-laws want: Blue Ribbon, Skansonia, etc.

I am sure I can find one that is still available from all the suggestions above. It will keep me busy for the next few days. Thanks guys.

Venue for 120 people for a 50th Anniversary

I sent an inquiry to Edgewater but have not heard back. I hope the food is good. The Newcastle venue is beautiful. Good suggestion. Thanks.

Waterfront Seafood Grill Pier 70 vs. Salty's on Alki for 50th

WSG said they can do it for the luncheon since they do not open for lunch and we can have the whole restaurant. Thanks for the input.

Waterfront Seafood Grill Pier 70 vs. Salty's on Alki for 50th

I am looking for a venue for my in-laws' 50th in August for about 120 people for a luncheon. Just realize that all the good places booked way in advance. Ray's is booked, Blue Ribbon is booked, ...

I am now down to Waterfront Seafood Grill vs. Salty's. What are some of the pro's and con's?

I am organizing it remotely in another state. I have been to Salty's but not Waterfront. I would appreciate inputs on the food, the service, the view, etc.

Thanks!

Venue for 120 people for a 50th Anniversary

I have just been recently tasked with finding a venue for my in-laws' 50th in August. I am organizing it from California so I would like to find a place that is one stop shop - like a restaurant with a big banquet room or hotel.

I was all set on doing it at Ray's Boathouse but they are booked for the day that the in-laws want. Any other suggestions?

I would like a place with good food and a good view of the water. My daughter is afraid of heights so I would prefer no high rise. My budget is around $40-$50 per person for a luncheon.

Thanks!!!

Where to buy good Green Tea Ice Cream?

Hi guys! I am new to this board but want to find out if anyone knows where to get the best green tea ice cream in the Bayarea. Before Dobachi closed in San Jose Japantown, I used to get green tea ice cream from them in a white carton. It was the best: dark green, dense texture, great taste.

After Dobachi closed, I tried all the different varieties of prepackaged green tea ice cream in the oriental markets, but they don't measure up.

Anyone knows where I can get good green tea ice cream? I will even go to San Francisco Japantown if necessary. Thanks!!
