Visiting Sedona

My wife and I are going to be visiting Sedona, Ariz., in a few weeks and would restaurant recommendations. Anything from where to go for morning coffee and fun bars to upscale cuisine. Also, is there any place there that serves quail? Thanks!

Sedona eating spots

My wife and I are going to be visiting Sedona in a week and we know nothing about the restaurant scene. Is there any place where I can get quail? What are some of the best options for simple meals and higher end dining? Thanks

La Belle Vie tasting menu/wine flight

First of all, the staff was so professional and hospitable that it made for a great, relaxed evening. The food was a wonder. Our first course was soft shell crab with strawberry gazpacho. It was served with a sparking wine from Piedmont. A very good opening act. Then we had the poached lobster with tortellini and a great white burgundy from Macon-Villages -- probably the wine highlight of the evening. Michael Florey was right -- the whites can and did surprise. I tend to be more of a red guy. My girlfriend and I were still talking about the taste of the lobster the day after.

Other highlights were the chicken with foie gras and hen of the woods mushroom -- paired with a German white. The red served with the grilled tenderloin was a bit heavy for my taste. It was from Languedoc. The cheese course featured mahon -- a Spanish cheese that I really liked. I will have to search for it at Surdyk's. I loved the dessert, which featured poached plums. The sherry with the dessert seemed a bit much. I am not used to drinking sherry, I suppose. Something less heavy would have been welcomed at that point. Maybe more champagne. We also had a Normandy cider at one phase during the meal which was interesting though not something I'd ever order in a restaurant or typically drink with a meal at home..

I must say it was interesting to have so many different wines at a meal. From sparkling wine to several interesting whites and reds and then a cider and sherry to round it off. I thought the amount of alcohol was certainly manageable. We were in the dining room for two hours and ate as we were drinking. And, the pours weren't exactly full glasses.

I'd definitely recommend the chef's tasting menu!

Thanks for the responses!

La Belle Vie tasting menu/wine flight

My girlfriend and I are going to La Belle Vie for their 8-course tasting menu and wine flight this weekend. Can anyone tell me what we can expect in terms of the amount of food and number of glasses of wine? Also, is it as great as the reviews say? Thanks!

Visiting Tulum in a few weeks

My girlfriend and I will be staying at La Vita e Bella resort in Tulum from the end of January into early February. We're seeking tips on food in the area -- where to find great seafood and what other options might be available. How is the street food in Tulum itself? Any tips on good values? Thanks!

Recommend a brasserie in Paris

I am traveling to Paris next month with my girlfriend for the first time. We are both very excited. I was wondering if someone could recommend a brasserie that offers great traditional fare. We're staying in the Latin Quarter but are willing to go where ever necessary for great food. I have already made reservations at a few bistros and restaurants. Is this necessary for brasseries? Thanks for your assistance.

Wine in Oxford restaurants on Sundays

I'm a little confused about the liquor laws in Oxford, Miss. I'll be dining on a Sunday evening at Ravine. IWhen I made reservations I asked if they could sell wine on Sundays. I was told they could not.. I then asked if I could bring a bottle myself and was told they couldn't advise me on that. I assume I am permitted to bring my own bottle? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Authentic Southern food in Oxford, Mississippi

I'll be visiting Oxford, Miss., in April and was wondering about restaurants in the town and surrounding region that might be good for BBQ, catfish, fried chicken and other Southern foods. Thanks!

Visiting Austin, looking for steakhouse tips

I'm going to be visiting Austin, Texas, later this month and I'd like recommendations on steakhouses. I'm not looking for a Vegas-style, Ruth's Chris-type place, but rather somewhere authentically Texan that serves great steaks. The kind of place locals go to that shows off the great beef in the region. Thanks
