Winterlicious LOVE only - Where are the MUST eats?

I just had a pretty decent meal at Quince. The beef poutine was very good (though how can you really go wrong with that?) as was the gnocchi with beef brisket. Lovely, pillowy gnocchi. The braised lamb was also excellent.
For dessert, the chocolate bread pudding, which was light but had enough of a chocolate taste to it. I tasted my friend's punpkin pot de creme which was also quite nice.
Great value for $25, IMO, and we weren't rushed at all.

Bar Italia- great for large groups!

they actually didn't charge a specific amount per person. they helped me come up with a limited a la carte menu based on what my guests like to eat, and it was personalized which was a nice touch. the limited menu was just so that we could have faster service from the kitchen. the menu i wanted had a focus on pasta, so it had about 4 apps, 2 hot sandwiches, nearly all the pasta choices and 2 other mains (chicken and risotto). it was a very well balanced menu with something for everyone.

I just wanted to share a fantastic experience I had while planning a dinner for 30 people last week. The staff were extremely helpful, customized a limited menu for faster service, and arranged everything beautifully. Given the size of the group, it's always a little more challenging for the servers to handle orders and clear up in between courses, but they were friendly, efficient and extremely calm.
The upstairs room seats about 35, and is private without being lonely- there's a DJ in the lounge on the other side of a catwalk separating the two spaces. The music selection is great, and the volume leaves you able to hear what people are saying..
The food was also really good- everyone loved the calamari and the gnocchi- and the orders came out on time as well.
I would come back here for a similar event any day :)
