I'm looking for a good lavernder chamomile tea that I can make at home, but have not seen it in any of my usual suspect specialty stores. Does anyone have any suggestions? Possibly a store that focuses on dry teas?

Little Giant Deviled Eggs Recipe - Published Anywhere?

The deviled eggs at Little Giant on the Lower East Side are probably the best I've ever had. Does anyone know if the Little Giant recipe has ever been published anywhere? I am responsible for making a substantial quantity of deviled eggs for a lunch this Sunday, and thought this would be a fabulous way to do it.

Do cured anchovies in olive oil need to be refrigerated after opening?

These are the responses I was hoping for! I will not miss the process of warming up refrigerated anchovies to get them out of the hardened oil! Thanks.

Do cured anchovies in olive oil need to be refrigerated after opening?

I cook with anchovies jarred in olive oil fairly often, and usually refrigerate the remainder in jar once I've opened it. Is the refrigeration really necessary or is the fish already cured enough in salt / sealed under oil that it can be left at room temp?

Grass-fed beef from Hedgeapple Farm in Buckeystown, MD?

Post-Christmas Update: The Hedgeapple grass-fed standing rib roast was absolutely phenomenal - tender, moist, flavorful. I was working with a big pice of meat (6 ribs / 12 lbs) and was worried that it would dry out, but didn't need to. 30 mins at 450, and 11ish minutes per pound after that (as well as a very accurate meat thermometer that came with the roast!) did the trick wonderfully. Overall, it was a terrific experience. I definitely plan to go back for more next year!

Has anyone out there had any experience with ordering/buying grass-fed beef from Hedgeapple Farm in Buckeystown, MD? I am considering ordering a rib roast from them for Christmas this year, and wanted to see if there were any success stories/cautionary tales out there before I made such a big commitment.


Agata & Valentina is selling the fresh mangosteens in the retail store as of today (it was covered on NPR this afternoon), but they are pricey - $12 for medium sized ones, $15 for large ones.

alinea or moto? help please

I have to agree with you. While I can't compare it to Alinea (I haven't been there), I was rather disappointed with my experience at Moto a couple of weeks ago. Each dish is very interesting/unexpected/molecularly advanced, but I found that they often seemed to ignore the basics, as evidenced by overcooked and dry proteins in more than one course. It seems like Moto too often emphasizes showiness over solid substance. This quality led me to describe the meal as "shallow" to those who asked me about it afterwards. I got the sense from my dining partners that Alinea (where they have both dined) offers a much richer experience with more attention to every detail.
