Quesada Mexican Grill
I have been to Quesada downtown twice and both times found the food to be tasteless and overcooked. For burritoes, I only do Burrito Boys and Chipotle...both excellent taste and fresh food! Yum!
ISO a sushi place in North York, Thornhill or Richmond Hill
Akasaka looks amazing, thanks! I had terrible food years ago at Memories of Japan and will never go back...

Amazing New Product at McEwans at the shops of Don Mills
I have recently discovered these amazing treats...flatbreads in a variety of flavours and I just can't get enough of them. They have lots of flavours and I haven't tasted them all but so far the chocolate sea salt, parmesan and chili mango are my three personal favourites. Last time I was there, the parmesan had sold out but I understand that they are back on the shelves now. I have been told that there are new flavours coming out this weekend and lots of free samples will be handed out on Saturday and Sunday. They are a great little snack or can be part of a fabulous cheese platter with some nice wine....especially sitting outside in the backyard enjoying this fabulous weather! I will definitely be by there this weekend to get some more and try some new flavours!

that has something cool for kids too...like floating sushi boats or something along those lines. Any ideas? We are taking my nephew out for his 10th birthday and want to make it something special.
ISO: (certified) Kosher FIsh Sauce to make Thai Food at home
Does anyone have any idea where this can be found in Toronto, North York or even Thornhill?
T.O.'s Best Fro-Yo
From what I have heard, Pinkberry is now in Canada (B.C.) of course and is coming to Toronto. Not sure when though...
The Village Chill at Spadina and Lonsdale has a great frozen yoghurt that is tart...I don't recall the name of it but maybe it was called Mangosteen??? Anyhow, it's addictive!

ISO PHO with a veggie broth
I love pho and am having trouble finding one that is not made from a beef or chicken stock. Anyone know where I can go?
Where to eat the best hwae dup bap?
I have to admit that it's been a while since I was there but Sam Jung at Leslie and York Mills had an amazingly generous and fresh hwae dup bap...I used to go twice a week it was so good!
Good kosher caterers?
I can also suggest Beverly Hills Catering...Raphi Amar is a pleasure to deal with and does AMAZING Morroccan food and also Chinese food. He does some other food too but that's all I have tried. We used him for our wedding in June and it was a whole Morroccan theme....people are still talking about the food!
Good kosher caterers?
There is a new caterer in town and they are excellent! It's called DKTO catering. They have a website... www.dktocatering.com They do all kinds..asian, moroccan, continental, french, japanese (including great sushi!), etc. They also make to die for flatbreads in 14 flavours (savoury and sweet).
Inexpensive but good Greek
Messini is the best choice for taste and price and quality too in my humble opinion.
Greg's Ice Cream has NOT closed
As an aside, Greg's is no longer selling their fabulous Roasted Marshmallow flavour to the Big Chill in the Village anymore. My fabulous fiance went to satisfy his craving yesterday and got the scoop (pun intended!)
What a treat! Terroni's last night
It's interesting...I have never had pasta at Terroni's...only pizza and usually the Ricottara one because I love ricotta but last night I tasted their spaghetti limone...it was to die for! Does anyone else know of anywhere else that serves a similar dish?
Girls Night Out in Bay and Queen Area
Any ideas of a good place to go with veggie and fish options that won't break the bank? Anywhere that is about 15-20 minutes walking distance is fine..
Dinner close to Yonge and Dundas
Just had lunch at Chipotle's today with some friends for the first time and it was out of this world! All of us had burritos and loved them All of the ingredients were fresh and tasty. The portions were excellent too. There were lineups the whole time we were there.
Looking for reasonable and good recommendations
in Miami (South Beach). Also looking for good recommendations for Florida Keys (especially Key Largo). Thanks!
January and February Prix Fixe alternatives to Winterlicious?
What did you have at Maroco?
Why surprised?
Another great prix fixe is at the South Side.
Spice Route or Kultura
How do these compare to JK Wine Bar? I happen to love it there and am now wondering if that might be the best place to go.....
Savoury & Sweet Fondue Places
Has anyone had the cheese fondue at Far Niente? How is it? How about the rest of their menu items?
Spice Route or Kultura
I will be taking my fiance out for his birthday and invite some friends to join but we are all vegetarians (who eat fish but no shellfish). Who's food, service, ambience and menu options is better?
The South Side....so good!!!
It has been a while, too long actually since I have walked out of a restaurant thinking WOW! I MUST SHARE THIS EXPERIENCE and so it is with great pleasure that I recount my experience at the South Side (located at Spadina and Londsdale on the southeast corner formerly Dave's By Day and Buzz By Night). Where to start....
The restaurant is beautiful! The decor and ambience are truly downtown....fabulous tunes play in the background....some jazz and a blend of funky background music which does not interfere with your ability to talk and enjoy but just loud enough to be enjoyed during predicted moments of silence (which I will get to). What I also love about this place is that although the decor is very sleek and modern, the seats are very comfortable and it is a warm place with lots of bright light coming in from all of the windows.
The service is outstanding! With a distant past where I worked as a waitress and bartender, I can appreciate good service which is so rare these days...the waiters were amazing....they were informative, fun, helpful, interesting and engaging. They truly seem to enjoy what they do and are big fans of the restaurant and it's food...it's obvious!
The food - unbelievable! This chef has talent! The menu combines fabulous tastes and textures to come up with something different from what we see repeatedly all over Toronto. My fiance and I both started with the soup as it was pretty cold outside and it was truly a perfect option it seemed...a truffled pumpkin and squash bisque with chanterelle mushrooms. The soup comes topped with seared foie gras but since we are both non meat eaters, we skipped it. The soup was divine! Our friends who had it with the foie gras loved it too! The only thing to note perhaps is that we all agreed on was that there is no need for the mushrooms as they do nothing to add to the flavour or texture of the soup...they are simply unnecessary in our humble opinion. Don't get me wrong, it didn't take away from the soup, it just didn't seem necessary. One friend had the mussels....he raved about it..
Now on to the main course: Before I get into detail, I must say that in all of the years that I have been eating cooked fish, never have I had a fish dish that even came close to this dish construction. Usually, one will find a piece of fish, a vegetable and starch on the plate with perhaps some glaze or what not. It's not that I haven't enjoyed fish elsewhere, it's just that this dish was truly remarkable! I had the Arctic Char which is a 6 ounce roasted filet with creamy leeksaysanne served over mini red potatoes and finished with a generous (but not overwhelming) citrus beurre blanc. The fish was perfectly done, moist and tasty. The melange of ingredients really made for a well layered dish which complemented everything on the plate. Absolutely fabulous! Some of our friends had the steak which was served top mashed potatoes and asparagus The steak was huge and apparently very juicy and tender. The mashed potatoes by all accounts were to die for....all around a fabulous meal was enjoyed by all. All dishes were well prepared (including doneness of the meat and special requests), the service was well executed by the attentive servers and the presentations were beautiful. The dessert highlights were homemade truffles as well as the mini cheesecake and the chocolate mousse which must be tried!
The mains start at $19.00 for a vegetarian option and up to $39.00 for ostrich at the high end. I agree it's not cheap but can tell you that you definitely get your money's worth. To add to the enticement is that they offer a prix fixe for $39.00 per person Sunday to Friday.....well worth it...excellent value!
We will be back and highly recommend The South Side to those who would like to have a nice meal for two and especially those out with friends....
ISO fresh and flavourful fruit and veg
Thanks all! I have been to Sobey's and Dominion/Metro and Loblaws as well...they have all disappointed. I will head up north to Highland Farms. I forgot all about Lady York as well...will have to head there and give it a try as I haven't been for a while.
ISO fresh and flavourful fruit and veg
I don't know if it's just me but I have recently had a really hard time finding a place that has a decent selection of fruit and veg that are fresh and tasty. Any suggestions? I am willing to go anywhere in the GTA but hoping to avoid the thieves on Yonge Street...
Frozen Artichoke Hearts
I have been able to purchase them at the Loblaws on St Clair near Bathurst.
Great Mississauga Restaurant for Christmas Party?
I suggest Rosewood Bistro and Wine Bar. I was there for the first time the other night and it was excellent...from the service, to the wine to the food and they have private dining for up to 90 people! The ambiance is great and their menu is quite varied to suit many tastes. Here's the website: http://www.rosewoodbistro.ca/
JK Wine Bar or Kultura
for a small group...which one shall we choose? I have been to JK a few times now and have LOVED it each time! We are all fish eaters...no meat or shellfish.
ferro - st. clair west
Coincidentally, I too just made a trip there after not being there in over a year at least and had a great experience. The service was very attentive, the food was excellent - I had a salad with grilled salmon which was fresh, moist and full of flavour, the salad itself was comprised of fresh, crisp vegetables and the balsamic dressing was perfect! We also all shared the vegetarian antipasto platter which was also fantastic...lots of variety, flavour and cooked to perfection...it was huge and so we couldn't finish it and brought the rest home. My sister was also very pleased with her salad and the pizza that we ordered for her little one (and which my sis could not resist) was, according to them also tasty. I will definitely be back and soon!
best one dish this year that you long to return for
Frites at JK Wine Bar and Coconut Cream Pie at Scaramouche...
Good Restaurant in GTA for whole wheat pasta?
Any suggestions? Any other healthy eating dining options that are good?
ISO good, authentic Hungarian desserts in GTA
Thanks for the tips everyone, I will definitely be checking them all out!
