How did I do with my dinner plans? (and a couple other questions.)

It's not big or fancy, but Jack's Fish Spot is a go-to spot for us.

Moving to Tucson soon

We're good on food trucks, street corner Sonoran hot dogs, craft cocktails (try 47 Scott),lots of interesting diners, local ingredients, casual dress, your pizza is here, Lee Lee Market, and good other stuff too.

Not so good for really fresh sushi,. seafood, or pretentious places.

Here's a few ideas for you:

Moving to Tucson soon

I would add that Tucson still has a shortage of quality fresh fish, so depending on where you are relocatingfroom you may have to adjust your expectations.

Lots of good stuff here and new places keep opening too.

Tell us what sorts of places you like.

Tucson: Lil Abner's Steakhouse vs Daisy Mae's Steakhouse

We have been to Abner's and found their service and food to be mediocre at best. Friends of ours have had the same experience there.

We have two suggestions for you:

'47 Scott', located at 47 Scott, a small restaurant and bar. Trendy cocktails, good food. Very friendly.

Another is the 'Hub Restaurant & Creamery', 206 E Congress, This is a vibrant restaurant, bar and with wild house-made flavors of ice cream. Wildly popular on weekend nights!

Feast changes their menu every month. Keeps it fresh I think.

Jax has a menu that is a bit more static. You need to try their sister restaurant The Abbey next time.

Ohana Tacos, a food truck in Honokowai is good.

Tucson - Feast

A Feast update following our 2nd visit to the new Feast.

Our first visit several months ago found them to be disorganized and uneven in food and service.

Last night showed that they have used the time to get a handle on the new digs.

The food seemed to be better prepared and the service was very much better. They moved in roughly six months ago and the outlook is positive for them.

Tucson - Shogun Sushi and Mama's Hawaiian

One hit and One Miss

We went to Mama's Hawaiian BBQ on Speedway last weekend. Clean place, okay service - disappointing food. My Chicken Teriyaki plate lunch featured dry, very overcooked chicken, mediocre rice and just-okay mac salad. We won't be returning.

On the advice of friends we tried Shogun Sushi on Oracle for dinner. Wow! Fresh fish, reasonable prices and great atmosphere and service. We will be returning!

We stopped at the truck last May, and will again this May. Not a life-changing experience, but a worthy addition to our list of low-cost alternatives in the area.
