The restaurant is dinner only. Were you recommending the Brooks Bar & Deck?

How is the food at Lone Eagle Grill? Hotel food or better? I could not locate Sunshine Cafe on the web. Is it near the Hyatt?

Lake Tahoe Lunches

I plan to base myself at incline village as well as South lake Tahoe and drive the CA and NV sides as weather dictates. I want to photograph Emerald bay and some of the sites on the south shore as well as the beaches on the Nevada side. I will travel for a nice meal, so the location can be anywhere near the lake.

Lake Tahoe Lunches

My wife and I will be in Lake Tahoe mid-May. Our dinners will be light meals since we will be busy with photography at sunset and would like to avoid eating late. We would like to find restaurants that we can stop at lunch for a leisurely main meal of the day. We are flexible with cuisine type and cost as well as location since we can plan our day around our lunch choice. We are looking for chowhound worthy restaurants. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thank you, in advance.

Thank you for the advice. I looked at their web site. They have a huge menu but recommend a few specific dishes. Are there any items that are not to be missed?

San Francisco lunch options - advice appreciated

My wife and I are planning a week-long April vacation in San Francisco staying near Union Square. As SoCal residents, we have travelled to San Francisco often to visit family & friends. This time ,however, is to visit San Francisco. Our time will be spent on photography, eating and sightseeing. Our main meal will be at lunch with a light snack in the evening.

My lunch time restaurant choices include Boulevard, Perbacco, Slanted door, Zuni cafe, Swan Oyster Depot, Absinthe, Pizzeria Delfina, Spruce, Cotogna, Burma Superstar and Les Ros Thai.

Any advice on restaurants to remove from the list or ones to add to it will be greatly appreciated. Thank you, in advance, for your help.

Sydney Restaurant Choices - Advice appreciated

I wanted to thank everyone for their advice and report on my dining experience. My wife and I had a wonderful week in Sydney - beautiful city, nice weather, wonderful people and great food.
The restaurants we ate at based on the order of our preference were Bentley (prix-fix lunch), District Dining, Marque (prix-fix lunch), Mamak, Chat Thai and Berta (Sagra dinner). I enjoyed Mamak more than expected and Berta less than expected. The rest were as expected - good to superb.
The most memorable courses were steak tartare, aioli, french fries, toast (District Dining), poached mulloway with amaranth artichokes & bisque sauce (Bentley) and spicy lamb curry (Mamak).
Service was usually good and sometimes superb (Bentley).
Wine selections were good though I felt they emphasized European wines at the expense of Australian and American ones.
Sydney is the only city besides Paris that felt like home after only a short stay. I hope to return as often as I return to Paris.

Thank you everyone for your input. I have one more question regarding restaurant etiquette in Australia.

Is a gratuity / service fee included in the meal price? what is an appropriate tip?

The deal is not limited to specific days on the web site and lunch is served on Saturdays. Perhaps a local can confirm.

I did try to think of ways to make Menya sound like a Sydney experience that she should not miss. None of them sounded convincing enough and I don't want to be eating ramen by myself.

I have added Menya Ramen to my list of places to try for a light meal.
Sixpenny looks great. I like the idea of a small degustation-only restaurant. However, to keep within budget one of us would have to eat at Menya while the other one enjoys Sixpenny. I hesitate to offer this idea to my wife.

Thank you for your input. I looked at Quay and Sepia but could not justify them based on cost (American $ has plummeted 50% against the AUD). I have reserved at Bentley and Marque since they have great week day lunch deals.

I will probably pass on Chinese restaurants in this trip. I live in So Cal San Gabriel valley with many such options.

For Italian food (not necessarily the view) would you choose Ottos or Pendolino?

Thank you for the advice. Pilu looks great and they have a weekday prix fix lunch that'll be within our budget. I have already contacted them for a reservation. It should make for a wonderful day trip from Sydney.

Sean's seems to be open for lunch on weekends only which limits our options since I plan to be in Sydney every day before sunset for my other passion besides food - photography. It is also a bit out of our budget. Are their lunch and dinner menus / prices identical?

Thank you for your advice. I looked at your suggestions and they all look great. I had 2 questions.

Would you recommend Cafe Pendolino as well as the restaurant?
I am also looking for lunch (as the main meal of the day) at Bondi and Manly. Any suggestions?

Thank you once again.

Thank you for the extensive advice.
I have now started to read the links for cafes, meat pies and food courts.
I had not considered chinese food or pizza, since I have access to so many in LA. I may have to reconsider.
I also noticed Assiette and Marque both have their value lunch special on Fridays. I currently have a reservation at Marque. Do you have a preference?
Thank you once again.

Sydney Restaurant Choices - Advice appreciated

My wife and I are planning a week long trip to Sydney in August. We are trying to pick 7-8 restaurants that serve lunch as well as dinner and fit within an average budget of $150/couple for food and drink.

We are from southern California and have no limitations on cuisine type. Our choices so far include Fix St James, Spice I am, District dining, Mamk, Marque (Friday lunch) and Bentley.

Any critique and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Late Dinner Recommendations: London

Thank you for your recommendations, especially Sedap which I had missed in my prior research. I had a question arising from my ignorance about Indian food. Would Indian Zing be similar to Bombay Brasserie or will it provide a contrast?

Late Dinner Recommendations: London

My wife and I will be in London for a short stay in May ( late Saturday to early Wednesday ) at the Hilton Metropole in Bayswater. We have made lunch reservation at the Bombay Brasserie (Sun), Hereford Road (Mon) and the Ledbury (Tue). We were looking for late (9:30 PM) and light dinners to complement these. Any suggestions for foodies from Los Angeles? Thank you, in advance, for your input.

Paris dining options - Feedback appreciated.

I was never rushed at lunch in any of the restaurants I visited. Regalade St. Honore is much quieter and feels more leisurely. My reservation at L'Ami Jean was at 1:00 PM and I had the table to myself for the rest of the lunch service. It may be more rushed if you have an early lunch reservation. rushed or leisurely, CAJ is wonderful. A great chef, friendly helpful staff and an energetic atmosphere. It was the only restaurants I visited twice during my stay.

Paris dining options - Feedback appreciated.

Chez L’Ami Jean - The perfect bistro. I liked the noise, the crowd, the chef and the staff. The food was perfectly executed. A selection of house terrines, veal kdneys and rice pudding with a bottle of Irouleguy red. All superb.

L’Agrume - Incredible value. The above mentioned entree, roasted veal, gorgonzolla with pears and arugula, wine and coffee for a total of 60 euros (for 2 people).

Le Marcab - Open on Sundays but has much to offer any day. Started with foie gras with smoked duck and prune confit followed by beef filet with a pepper emulsion and a selection of cheeses.

Chez Grenouille - A great neighborhood bistro. I had a wrapped sausage appetizer, veal liver and chocolate souffle. Good service and lots of local friendly diners.

Frenchie - We had a great quality, good value meal but with lackluster service. Beet salad, Pork with carrots chickpeas and mustard grains, pot au chocolate with strawberries. All were great but we had to wait 30 minutes to order coffee!?

Regalade Saint-Honore - I had foie gras with mixed greens, crispy pork belly on a bed of lentils and grand marnier souffle with a bottle of Cahors. Food was great but a bit heavy. Service was acceptable.

Ze Kitchen Galerie - Polenta with asparagus ham and a citrus condiment, grilled lamb with chili chorizo condiment and and a chocolate pepper ice cream dessert. Great cooking that was not French food to my palate.

Les Paplles - I like the lack of choice here. The food was well prepared and simple. Everyone had sweet potato soup, Magret de Canard, Blue cheese with prunes and a dessert of strawberry panacotta. Our only decisions were wine and coffee.

Le Comptoire du Relais - We had the lunch time bistro meal not the gastronomic dinner. Artichoke soup, Pig Trotter and Apple Tart. Everything fine. Nothing outstanding.

Le Gaigne - I had Vichyssoise, Chicken with sherry and swiss chard and Riz au lait with mint. Once again everything fine but nothing outstanding.
