Viajante [London]

I'm taking Miss Souljacker to Viajante for her birthday next week, can't wait! I hope the pacing isn't too hectic, was thinking we would try to fit in 9 courses.

Eating and Drinking in St. Ives (Cornwall) and Penzance

I can also vouch for the quality of food at Margot's. I ate there following advice from this forum and it was an amazing meal from start to finish.

London Dining Suggestions

I can second The Carpenter's Arms, I used to frequent there when I lived in West Kensignton and was always impressed with the food.

London - Best beer spots in central London

The Lowlander between Covent Garden and Holborn has an excellent selection of Belgian beers on tap: http://www.lowlander.com/our-beers

Some London restaurant reviews and notes from a New York Chowhound

Thanks for such a thorough report! Have been meaning to to check out GQS so must get there soon. I also really enjoy the coffee at Coffee Plant. I would also add to Limster's recommendation for The Bull and Last, a beautiful pub serving amazing food.

Best Options for Game in Central London - end of November

I recently had an exceedingly delicious grouse with bread sauce at Dean St Townhouse (£28) and partridge at Anchor & Hope (£15 iirc). Obviously the menus at both places change semi-frequently but I would imagine that A&H will have game on the menu on any given day in November

Charlotte Street, London

Is the Pie Room at Newman Arms suitable? I've taken visiting friends from overseas there and they have absolutely loved it. I wouldn't say it's somewhere you can linger too long, but the pies are very enjoyable.

London - Alternatives because Bocca di Lupo is booked

I would second limster's suggestion of L'Anima. It is expensive but very, very good food in my opinion. The rabbit stew my girlfriend had there was amazing!

Mexican food stand - Elephant & Castle/London

I saw him on Lower Marsh on Friday last week, but he wasn't there yesterday, so I settled for a crepe (which was delicious). I work nearby so will head there again today, I fancy some tacos!

Bath - recommended places for afternoon tea and other yummy bites?

Hi there.

I did a search on this board yesterday for Bath recommendations as I'm going to be there is August as well. Ended up booking dinner at the Wheatsheaf in Combe Hay, it sounds very promising.

Dinner recommendations in Padstow

Thanks for the tip - I think I may have prematurely posted! Sounds like Paul Ainsworth and Margot's are both well worth a visit, I just hope I can get a table at one or the other.

Dinner recommendations in Padstow

Hi there,

I will be in staying Padstow with the girlfriend and her parents in mid July and was looking for some dinner recommendations. I've booked a table at The Seafood Restaurant (Rick Stein) but could only get a 9.30 PM booking so am open to other suggestions. Ideally somewhere that does fresh delicious seafood - shouldn't be too difficult given the location I would think.

Thanks for any suggestions you can provide.

Are there ANY proper Mexican restaurants in London??

I can second the quality of Buen Provecho, the stewed pork (can't recall the Mexican name) is amazing. I actually just got back from LA and was astounded by the quality of Mexican from the all night vans there, much better than any late night food you can find in London in my opinion!

London - 5 days. Single. Near Tower Bridge but willing to explore.

Sure, they are close to the entrance off Stoney St. The name of the stall is Le Marché du Quartier, opposite the Ginger Pig. They are there selling the cassoulet every Thursday and Friday, so I assume they are selling it on Saturdays as well.

I can second the above recommendation re the cassoulet from Borough Market. I work near the market and this cassoulet has become my regular Friday lunch.

Any good georgian restaurant in London?

I can recommend Little Georgia on Goldsmith's Row, just north of Hackney Rd.

I have eaten there twice and the food is delicious (especially the blini), and while I can't really comment on its authenticity (I've never been to Georgia and this is the only Georgian restaurant I've been to) I can only assume it is a fair representation of Georgian cuisine.

The place itself is very cosy and welcoming, the staff have been excellent on both my visits and the prices more than reasonable. They don't have a license but don't charge you corkage so this brings the bill down further. I wouldn't hesitate to eat here again in the future.

Best (And Worst) Italian Restaurants in London?

I can heartily recommend L'anima which is located on Snowden St near Liverpool St tube, easily the best Italian restaurant I've been to in London. It is relatively pricey but the quality of the dishes more than makes up for the cost, well worth a visit.
