Little Baby's Ice Cream in West Philly

I haven't been to that location, but they have incredible ice cream. If it's not a comfortable location, it'd probably still be worth it to maybe get some ice cream to go for your Mom. Their bourbon bourbon vanilla is amazing.

Vernick Food and Drink - has anyone been there?

We went to Vernick back in June for our anniversary and thought it was excellent. Every dish was delicious and fresh and the service was great as well. Some stand outs were the pea and bacon toasts and the tuna poke.

best montgomery county farmers' markets for produce

It may be a hike, but the Glenside farmer's market is great. They usually have at least 3 farmers and one is all organic. It's Saturday's at the Glenside train station.

Farm & Fisherman, Fond, Matyson, Mica or Heirloom?

Fond is excellent. My favorite in the city. I dream about their sweetbreads.

Jenkintown area, Best of the Best?

Timber is where In Flight used to be. We have been there many times and it's always been really delicious. Great beer selection too.
This is the first recommendation I've ever seen for 211 York, we have been wondering about that place.

Jenkintown area, Best of the Best?

My favorite nicer place in the area is Timber. It's right across from the Hospital in Abington.

CHEAP EATS IN HORSHAM/WILLOW GROVE

Elevation Burger is in the strip mall in front of the Lowes on Welsh Rd. And the meat is organic, free range, grass fed, etc... They make a great burger.

CHEAP EATS IN HORSHAM/WILLOW GROVE

Pho and Beyond is my favorite in the area. For burgers, elevation burger is good. I think Lee's hoagie house in Abington makes the best hoagies around (and cheesesteaks).

Dinner/drinks near Union Transfer

I really like prohibition. Food is great and the beer list is top notch. Last week I ordered the short rib shepherd's pie, it was delicious.
Sazon is a good venezuelan place very close to union transfer, but it's BYOB and the service is sometimes painfully slow.

chef's tables?

Last night we went to a Chef's table at Lacroix. It was a LOT of fun and we had 12 (+) incredible courses. The food was delicious and inventive. And the table is right in the kitchen. It was really cool to watch the chefs in action.

ISO Foodie Bed and Breakfast

http://oldinn.com/

The Old Inn on the Green in Marlborough Mass is incredible. It is over a 2 hour drive (at about 5) but it is worth the trip. We stayed there last year with a Groupon deal and when I saw the deal a couple weeks ago, I booked it again. I highly recommend it. Great food and atmosphere.

Mad Mex Willow Grove

It is on Moreland Road. It's in between the mall and the Lowe's in a strip mall by the TD Bank. I think the cross road is Fitzwatertown.

Mad Mex Willow Grove

We went to the opening Friday night and it was excellent. The beer list is incredible and we are SO happy to have such a good selection close to home. They had 24 taps and it included lots of local breweries as well as an excellent selection. I ordered the steak tacos, which were delicious. They had a spicy kick and were cooked perfectly. The service was great too, you would have never guessed it was the first night they were opened.

Trevi in Glenside - at last, something good in the 'hood!

I just wanted to add that we have been there a few times over the past few months and it has been excellent every time. A new favorite is the rigatoni and crab pasta, which is absolutely delicious and the pizza is great too. Perfect crust and fresh ingredients. I am also addicted to the romaine salad with blue cheese.

Butcher in the Burbs?

We buy our beef at None Such Farms in Buckingham. They have everything and we regularly get ground beef, steaks, sausage and short rubs. It is all delicious and the animals are raised on site. It's a bit far, so we go about once a month to stock up the freezer.

Diners in the Chester county/Lancaster county vicinty?

I haven't been there in probably 12 years, but I used to LOVE Jennie's Diner on route 30. From what I remember: Great food, ridiculously giant serving sizes and great prices.

Night Market

Went to this last night and had a great time. The lines were pretty insane at some of the places. We really wanted to try more things, but the lines were just too long. Nomad pizza looked good, how was it? We ended up getting Indonesian food and it was incredible. Anyone know the name of that place and if they have a restaurant?

BYO in Philadelphia

Little Fish and Fond are both excellent choices and BYO, although not in Rittenhouse. Fond's sweetbreads are amazingly delicious.
If you would rather stay in the Rittenhouse area Melograno is a great Italian BYO that we always enjoy.

Dim Sum Garden

They have excellent soup dumplings. We just had soup dumplings in NYC's chinatown yesterday and we thought the ones at Dim Sum Garden were better.

Need fool-proof chocolate bundt cake recipe please

This chocolate cake recipe is divine. I usually halve the chocolate chips because they settle to the bottom and then it's hard to get out of the pan. I get rave reviews everytime I make it and it so easy.

Outdoor Dining Suggestions.....Montco/Bucks County

Monday night we stopped at Blue Comet (in Glenside) for dinner and they have a really beautiful outside area in the back. It was a great atmosphere, but the food could be much better. That place could be so great if they'd just redo their menu.
Also, there is West Ave Grill in Jenkintown with a few tables outside. KC's alley has a couple tables outside. Trax is great too.

great chefs event

I didn't make it, but there is another charity event this Monday with great chefs. The Taste of the Nation Philly. We've gone the last couple years and it's a really great time, you can try food from many of Philadelphia's best restaurants.

Next year I definately want to go to the Great Chefs Event too. I love John Besh!

Trevi in Glenside - at last, something good in the 'hood!

Last night we went to Trevi for the second time and it was really delicious. Our first time there wasn't so great, but we wanted to give them a second try, because they had so much potential. Last night we ordered an arugula salad tossed w/ Tomato Raisins, Candied Walnuts and Lemon Vinaigrette. It was perfectly dressed and delicious. The candied walnuts were delicious and not full of sugar like some places make them, they were just slightly sweet. We also ordered the margherita pizza and it was great. The crust is perfectly crisp and very thin and the tomato sauce was full of flavor. We also split a pasta dish that was a special, it had chicken, eggplant, zucchini in a sun dried tomato sauce. The pasta was perfectly cooked it had a good flavor and was a big portion. The leftovers are my lunch today and I cant' wait to eat them. Prices are very affordable too and the service is great. We will definitely be back!

Where to get blood oranges?

Top of the Hill Market in Chestnut Hill had them about a week and a half ago. They may still have them.

Deal Alert - Makiman Sushi

I go to the Oxford ave one a lot, since I work by there. They have really great sushi. The lunch deals are killer. The Udon soup is really good too. I'll have to check out this coupon, thanks!

Great meal at Fond in South Philly

I ate at Fond twice over the past year and I can say my meals there were the best I had all year. The sweetbreads are incredible. The first meal I had there was the seared skate and it was really delicious. The second meal was an octopus stew that was also incredible. I can't remember what my dining partners had, but everyone throughly enjoyed their meals. This is my current favorite restaurant in the city!

Help! Im trying to find a place in Philly to have a surprise 40th Birthday..

Maybe Lucy's Hat Shop? I also attended a surprise party there and it was fun. The food was all brought in by the one throwing the party. Again, I have no idea what it cost, but it's a thought.

Help! Im trying to find a place in Philly to have a surprise 40th Birthday..

I went to a surprise party at Bridget Foy's on south street and it was great. I'm not sure what the cost was, but they had finger foods/apps and open bar. The whole 3rd floor (and I think maybe the 2nd too) is available to rent.
