Best Steak House in Greenville

By far Rick Erwins....we have tried all of the newcomers, like Grille 21, Rare etc but it is still the best. Great steakhouse atmosphere, although a little noisy at peak times...great staff and a wonderful bar. Can be pricy but still cheaper than a Capitol Grille of Mortons.

Best barbeque sauce out of a bottle?

You guys know that the original recipe died with Mr Bryant and this recipe is his families best guess as to what was in it....nothing like the original to me.

Easley, SC

We eat there a fair amount....limited menu on Thurs-Fri Sat night.....good deserts and good breakfast and lunch. Again, there are only 7-8 things for dinner. Avoid the shrimp and grits. Good, inexpensive wine.

Finally found my BBQ fix in Greenville, SC

After being severely disappointed with the Que offerings in the past 5 years I finally hit the mother load with Webbs. Both the Brisket and the pork are top drawer as I havent tried the chicken or sausage yet. The sides are good and decor is ...welll ....BBQish. Only drawback is that they are open only on Thurs, Fri and Sat.

Best Barbecue in Greenville SC

You cannot....in my humble estimation it does not exist. The closest is Henry's but that doesnt stack up with NC,Memphis, STL or KC.....

Is there ANY restaurant at all worth going to in Wilmington, DE?

Not to far from Wilmington in Newark you have Cafe Gelato which is very good and constantly scores high with Wine Spectator. The lamb and veal dishes are excellent. I have to also agree that Harrys Seafood is excellent.

Fair Hill Inn, Elkton, MD - worth trying? (or anything else really good relatively near to Newark, DE)

Harrys we have found to be very special. They have fresh Seafood and sashimi and their calimari is the best in the area. We live 5 minutes from the Fair Hill Inn and know the owners. The owner chef is European trained and the food is always good. You can select from the Fixed Price menu or select small plates.

Where to eat in Massillon, Canton, Akron, Ravenna, OH?

Moes is phenomenal....it is worth the drive from Massilon. The menu is eclectic, elxcellent wine list and it has both a Tavern menu and a Dining menu. Highly recommended are the Short Rib sliders. my wife and I shared Rabbit and the Duck Breast. Both are good...very good. Downtown Akron has the Diamond Grille for excellent steaks or Luigis for good pizza. Stay away from Ken Stewarts which is overprice and overrated.

CRAWFISH: opinions on these tasty little fellas

Wild mudbugs are in season from the gulf states starting in March when the heavy rains flood ditches and ponds. We used to harvest them by throwing a seine in the ditch and a few chicken necks on top of the seines, wait a while and pull the seine up loaded with Crawdads. you can order them fresh or frozen from La from cajungrocer.com.

Why isn't fried duck as popular as fried chicken?

I think the milk bath for duck refers to wild ducks that are hunted, the same for venison. It gets rid of the gaminess. I don't detect any gaminess in domestic ducks and I agree with the answer above that to fry a duck isn't simple as it has so much fat. When I roast a duck I slow cook it for four hours and get a tremendous amount of fat drippings that when flash frie would remain with the duck.

High Cotton in Greenville, SC

We had a business dinner last night at High Cotton. I had read the previous reviews so went with an open mind. Good points....found La Posta Malbec on the wine list...outstanding value. The food for the most part was exceptional. The soups weren't served hot but the flavor was good. They had a duck, sausage gumbo, others had fried goat cheese, crab cakes etc and ll said they were ood. I had the duck breast and confit which was superb at 26 bucks. The filets were exceptional. For desert we all shared souffles which again were exceptional.

The food we all agree was the highlight...the lowlight was the very slow service. Our waiter had to be reminded a couple of times of things that he forgot. We sat at 7:30 and didnt get out until 10:30 where even an unrushed service should have had us out an hour earlier.

San Antonio/ Riverwalk - Final Four Weekend help!

We just finished a splendid meal at Bigas on the Bank....three of us with a bottle of wine deserts and ports with tip was $300.....couldn;t have been better. We ate outside and it was jammed and still had excellent service. The night before we ate ate Citrus ate the Hotel Valencia and it was also excellent.... I had the duck breast but other notables were the steaks and quail...good wine list and rather reasonable considering all that we got. Two bottles of wine, six people with tip was $360.

Noone has mentioned Little Rhein Steak House on the Riverwalk which again is good, very pricey and a limited menu but not bad if you can't get in anywhere else. The steaks aren;t quite on par with Bohannon's but they are Prime. Have fun we really enjoyed our time here.

Chowhounder stuck at airport!

Stick to Rosemont and you have a lot of good choices within 5 minutes....Do not go to Nicks Fishmarket...the one in Rosemont is overpriced an over rated. I highly recommend The Rosewood Grill for the best steaks, chops and seafood. The restuarants in the Sofitel are bth excellent. Giordanos for pizza.

Como Inn-downtown Chgo

The first few trips for me to the Como Inn were fantastic but sadly in its last years the menu had been made average and the food quality had become average. Too bad. Another landmark that I loved is also gone...Schuliens which ws mor of a quality neighborhood restuarant with great food.

Johnsonville Brats--what's the big deal?

Weisswurst is only eaten before noon in Bavaria and the skin is always removed. Bratwurst in the US is sold both as the weisswurst and the American Sheboygan which is more like a very large Nuerenburgrwurst. Personnally I like them all but really love Sheboygan style brats, I make homemade but like JV or Klements or Ussinger.

How safe is sushi from a decent sushi restaurant?

Like most of the posters here, i have eaten sashimi and sushi for years with no problems. Although I fear that with the explosion of sushi sold in grocery stores and other outlets that may change. I ve eaten fresh Sushi off of the back of fishing boats off of California and Mexico and in many restuarants and never had a problem.

Great Food Cities - Why is NOLA One?

Havng eaten in both cities many times I have to say shame on you if you get a bad meal without doing your research. When a city has great reputation its funny that the locals say...oh, we don't eat there, its too touristy. I eat at those spots for a baseline and guess what...they are usually fantastic. Places like Commanders Palace, Mr Bs etc are all really good. I had the opportunity to eat at CS when Emeril was the up and coming Chef, and yes they did call him Chef....what about Paul Prudhomme who expanded on the cuisine and introduced a lot of variations such as turducken. But essentially I agree, NOLA is a city of a defined cuisine and SF is a city of chefs.

Do I want to say "Yes" to a wild turkey offer?

Oh my gosh say yes...the flavor compared to domesticated, hormone junky locked in a cage with no time out for good behavior is incomparable. The meat is more flavorful and much more moist then domestic. The meat is dark compared to domestic but is very flavorful in a good way. If properly prepared you will have a winner. I have had tham on the table many times and given the choice ther would be no contest.

Good Eats Rome to Greenville SC to Newberry SC

I had Henrys on Tuesday night and have to tell you I was extremely disappointed after reading all of the revues. Yo uwere correct about the texture of the ribs...but I also found them to be rather tasteless. Really good ribs barely need sauce but these needed the sauce just to give them flavor. The sides were okay and the pulled pork doesnt measure up with Wilburs, Carolina BBQ or Kings....not even in the same league. Still looking for the really good BBQ in Greenville since I'm moving here in the spring.

2nd Tier Cities: The best food & dining experiences?

I have to agree with Charleston and now even Greenville. No one has mentioned Philadelphia with a wealth of quality big name restaraunts and small neighborhood gems. I also have to agree with a previous post about Baltimore and its numerous Italian, and seafood retaraunts. And, if you throw in Annapolis it gets even better.

Have a Nice Flight

Chicago used to have a wine bar in the eighties in terminal G I think it was. It was classy and way ahead of its time. I never heard why they closed it but I wish they would bring it back.
