How Many Fruits and Vegetables Should I Eat: A Visual Guide

"And while the USDA says it's technically OK, we are trying not to let french fries and juice count toward our fruit-and-vegetable allotment."

This should serve as a perfectly good reason not to trust the USDA's food pyramid, which emphasizes grains, meat, and dairy. That coupled with the fact that the food pyramid is created by the same organization that provides fat subsidies to growers of rice, wheat, corn, and soy.

The Counter (Custom built burgers), now open at Hillsdale Shopping Center, San Mateo

I've been to the Santana Row location quite a few times. I like the burgers (mostly for the diversity of the selection, the quality of the burger itself is so-so) and the sweet potato fries with horseradish mayo is definitely solid. I haven't been there in awhile, but whenever I did go there, the hostesses were always rude. Hopefully they've gotten some new ones.

open late in downtown berkeley -Saturn Cafe

I've been there once and had the Thai peanut salad. It was very good, especially for diner food.

Client Dinner in San Jose - Suggestions?

Try Cin-Cin in Los Gatos. It's a wine bar so it may not be what you're looking for, but the food (cheese selection can't be beat) and service is fantastic.

Dinner with grandparents in Berkeley- need recs

So my grandparents are coming to visit Berkeley and are taking my boyfriend and I out to dinner. He asked me to choose a restaurant with these qualifications:
-walking distance of University Inn (Gourmet Ghetto/Downtown Berkeley restaurants)
-no sushi
-has some "Berkeley flavor"

I'd like to go somewhere where we can have a long, hearty meal. As far as price range, I'd say about mid-range ($10-$15 entrees).

I'm overwhelmed by the options in Berkeley! Where do you guys suggest going?

Going to San Jose Rep Theatre and need recommendations for dinner?

Go to the Loft and sit upstairs!

food carts

the Brazil Cafe on University Ave in Berkeley (right next to Mike's Bikes) is more of a shack than a cart, but they have awesome service and great tri-tip sandwiches. Pick up a coupon in Mike's Bikes for a free mango smoothie

Help: Graduation BBQ for Meat eaters vs. Veg. Heads

i'd go with kebabs. for the meat eaters, you could have barbeque chicken, onions, and pineapple, and for the vegetarians, you could have tofu, onions, pineapple, and bell peppers.
