Good quality ice cream to take home?

Is there any place in Mississauga to get Greg's roasted marshmallow? I've only had burnt marshmallow from Hollywood Gelato years ago but someone says Greg's is way way better

Thanks in advance

Calypso Lemonade

They sell it at Smokes Poutinerie in Guelph so I'd imagine Toronto locations have it too. You should inquire there maybe

High-end-ish restaurants near the airport... ?

If you go to Zorros make sure you get the table side Caesar salad. Zorros and Aristotles in Mississauga have the best Caesar salad in the city to my knowledge

Fat Phil's Marlee no more-R.I.P

There used to be a Fat Phil's here in Brampton and we used to love it (although I was just a kid and barely remember it). They used to deliver too. Are these two places related?

BBQ cleaning service in the GTA?

That's not what I like to hear. Believe me this was a very real company when I used them two years ago. Now with your post here I am skeptical to call them again..

Good quality ice cream to take home?

I see Kawartha Dairy Moose Tracks all the time at Costco Heartland. Never bought it because the ingredient list didn't sound good at all, lots of HFCS and additives if I recall

Grand Electric

Oh wow still that crowded is it? Bummer I wouldn't want to wait THAT long

Thanks szw

Looking for nachos with shredded lettuce on them.

I also like shredded lettuce on my nachos

Grand Electric

My girlfriend and I were thinking of trying to go here, can you just show up on a Tuesday night and get in or do you need to make reservations?

thanks

Milton, ON - good places to eat?

+1 , can't believe people haven't been recommending Halifax Donair

Hattori kitchen knives

I've also purchased through JapaneseChefsKnife years ago, great experience and would buy again

Fuzz Box: East Coast donair in Toronto

Very cool, thanks for the info. I never get to the Danforth but was gonna say, it'd have to be something really special to take the crown from Halifax Donair in Milton. Those donairs are delicious

Fuzz Box: East Coast donair in Toronto

Anyone eaten at Halifax Donair in Milton? I've been going there for years. That's my only donair experience pretty much so I'm wondering how it compares

Mexican in Mississauga

I like El Sombrero too

Theee best crispy beef in the GTA

Bombay Chopsticks in Mississauga has a tasty hakka style crispy beef. I believe there's a couple locations.. Not sure if this is the "Calgary style" you are all referring to though

The "What's good in Peel" thread.. (BRAMPTON/MISSISSAUGA Only please) :^)

I can't help with the Indian suggestions at all. I get butter chicken or chicken tikka from a place called Narula's BBQ in Mississauga but I have no idea if that's even considered good or not. The samosa's place is almost certainly from A-1 Samosa which are great yep (but VERY greasy, eats right through the bag)

Best burrito in the city...

Interesting.. I haven't heard much about Big Bone BBQ but the fact they are related to Memphis Woodbridge isn't that reassuring, because their food is VERY mediocre. Even down to simple stuff like their french fries, which are heavily battered, frozen, and come out of a plastic bag into oil that hasn't been changed in a very long time..

Have you eaten at Memphis Woodbridge? Curious if Big Bone is the same recipes or what the relation is exactly

Best Burger - Walking distance from Entertainment District

I've been to Grindhouse twice.. One time I was less than happy. Almost downright pissed even.. (their "port" poutine gravy is just plain weird to me, so I would not recommend it at all to anybody) and on the first visit my burger was also way over charred to the point of being bitter. Nail in the coffin was their incredibly obnoxious karaoke/trivia going on in the place and they sat us right beside a gigantic speaker which almost left us deaf for a day. Not to mention this incredibly crude "DJ" doing the karaoke who was swearing more than a drunken sailor and making incredibly crude comments as if they were funny (it wasn't, especially not when trying to eat)

However on my second visit with the GF we both got their "big mac" style burger which this time was actually cooked much better and got the plain fries which was also much better than the poutine. That meal we both really enjoyed. GF didn't care for their "homemade ketchup" though which is more like tomato soup with basil in it

Basically , yeah, I'd recommend grindhouse too. Just don't go during karaoke and avoid the poutine and you'll be good.

Jacob and Co - what to order?

I love striploin.. Queue de Cheval has a Kansas City Striploin which is bone-in striploin with a large L-shaped bone in it, that's usually what I ordered when I went there. Delicious!

Maybe he's not recommending it here because they only have the boneless variety?

Thanks again for all the helpful advice so far, folks! Debating about maybe just grabbing a hotel room downtown and parking the car there overnight. Would be able to go bar hopping after the steakhouse too which would be nice without worrying about needing to drive anywhere after

If anyone else has any input though feel free to add your favorite items to the list as well!

Cheers and thanks again !

Jacob and Co - what to order?

Bumping this thread because I have some similar questions...

I have never been to Jacobs but it's my birthday this month and I told the girlfriend I want to go here to celebrate it.

My biggest questions are regarding parking -- since we are making the drive all the way from peel region just to eat here, I'm just curious about the parking situation. What's the best place to park, or is there any lots nearby within immediate walking distance? Where do you guys usually park when you go? I'm guessing there is probably valet, anyone know what that costs? $20+tip?

And echoing the original poster, any "must try's" on the menu besides the tableside caesar salad and the steaks? I have been to Queue de Cheval in Montreal at least 5 times so I'm pretty familiar with these types of places. I won't be springing for the wagyu, haha. Any must try drinks or anything also? I'm mostly a beer guy but the girlfriend might enjoy something out of the ordinary

Lastly, are reservations necessary? It's just 2 of us on a weekday so we should be okay, right?

Thanks again for any tips/comments/suggestions. Can't wait to try this place out!

cheers!

Fat Bastard Burrito Co.

I can agree with this completely.

Burrito Boyz is the worst of the worst, but I have enjoyed all my visits to FBB as well.. I have not tried the noodles in the burrito yet either, but I probably will now.

They also sell ghost chili's there if you want to bring a pack of them home and dare one of your friends or siblings to eat it.. Great for a laugh!

Prepared at table Caesar salad

In Mississauga I've had good tableside caesar salads from Aristotle's steakhouse and Zorro's steakhouse.

The best I've ever had though, by a longshot, was at Queue de Cheval in Montreal

Where can i find the best chicken shawarma?

I've been to Belle a bunch of times with my Russian pals, they love it there. I'd have to recommend skipping the shawarma area at the front and ordering/sitting from the back where the grill guy is. Lamb, chicken, beef kabobs were all delicious and much better than the shawarma counter near the front

Where can i find the best chicken shawarma?

Shawarma Max is horrible, that's one of the worst places to eat a shawarma as far as I'm concerned. They "fake grill" the pita once it's wrapped which means they stick it in a lukewarm press for about 3 seconds before wrapping it and giving it to you as if that 2 seconds of heating is supposed to do anything at all. Doesn't even make the pita crispy. Lettuce is always rusty.

I would never, ever recommend shawarma max to anyone.

Best Ruben Sandwich in Toronto?

Peter's on Eglinton.

Chicken Pot Pie that I can pass off as my own

Hmmm, I didn't find mine overly salty. But I would think it varies from store to store, or even from whoever makes it at the time.. I was pleased with the product

Chicken Pot Pie that I can pass off as my own

Had a great chicken pot pie from Costco recently, believe it or not

You have $10 for a meal, where do you go in Toronto?

Ahh okay yeah hehe, they are definitely good at Bitondo's across from the Monarch.. They are also called "Panzerotti" or "Panzerotto" or "Panzo" or "Calzone".. I call them "delicious" hehe

ISO: Best salami in Toronto

I think I like the Italian style best.. Any recommendations for that style? Maybe even something with some spice to it

And on that note, I wonder what the differences are between Genoa Salami, Sopressata Salami, and so on.

Another kind that's really good is the "dry" kind, like Cacciatore. California Sandwiches is now selling house made dry cured salami like mentioned above and it's pretty good but lacking in heat IMO

You have $10 for a meal, where do you go in Toronto?

Panini or Panzo? Panini is a sandwich
