Cute Terrasse restaurant in downtown Montreal $30-50 for 2 pp?

I am going out for dinner tonight with a friend, and I am looking for a cute terrasse in downtown Montreal. Anywhere in between Rene-Levesque and Sherbrooke St., Peel and Crescent.
We are on a budget, so we would like to keep it at under $50 for both of us (including a glass of wine each), tax & tip extra.

Required: Upscale restaurant for special event

Thanks everyone for your suggestions!

While this event requires a very special restaurant and amazing dinner, I will keep Burger De Ville in mind for next time hubby has a big steak crisis.

So has anyone been to Toque recently? It's just not worth the $$ ? What about XO?

Right now, our list is down to:

Europea (thanks, Maximilien, I forgot about this one!)

Toque

XO

Club Chasse et Pêche.

And I am on my way to check out Bonaparte and L'Eau a la Bouche.

Steak or some type of red meat is essential for hubby. He is a very picky eater in general, and that also limits us to à la carte menus. There are always tons of things he won't eat in the set menus.

Any suggestions for an out-of-this-world dinner for a very special celebration? Hubby is a big steak-fan, but it could be something else too.

I was thinking of the usual famous ones:
Club Chasse et Peche
Ferreira
Queue de Cheval
Toque
...
Has anyone been to any of these recently? What's your review?
It's been a long time we haven't been to any of them.

Which other restaurants should we consider and why? Budget is $150-175 for 2, excluding alcohol.
A really nice atmosphere/decor would be very nice, but more importantly we are looking for a real treat to our tastebuds.

TIA!

New Year's Eve- restaurant on the South Shore?

We're looking for a nice restaurant for dinner on New Year's Eve on the South Shore. We'll be 4.
Any recommendations?

Criteria...:
- price range $50-75 pp (excluding wine, tax & tip)
- no Asian or African
- nice atmosphere
- it really has to be on the South Shore as hubby will be on call for work so he will have to leave pronto if he gets called.

From the few phone calls I made, I found La Tomate Blanche at Quartier Dix30. They have both the regular menu and a special 4 course table d'hôte for $55 pp. I have not found any reviews on this restaurant on Chowhound, so if anyone has been, I would appreciate a review on food, service & ambiance.

Unfortunately, my first idea, Tamales in St. Lambert is closed.

If you had one evening only in Toronto, where would you eat?

I posted previously asking about the 360 CN Tower restaurant. We will be in Toronto on the weekend, on Saturday. We're looking for an exceptional meal ($40-60pp before wine, tax & tip), with a nice atmosphere, and a few other restrictions: no Asian, Italian, Indian or African. And preferably not French.

Where should we go?

360 CN Tower restaurant ??

Thanks! That's exactly what we thought as well. We're three girls and one of us really wants to go up the tower. We thought the best way would be to combine both... As long as it's fairly decent, we'll be happy.

Any specific food recommendations?

360 CN Tower restaurant ??

We'll be in Toronto this upcoming weekend and made a reservation at the 360 CN Tower restaurant for Saturday night. What should I expect? Good food, or just so-so? Any recommendations?

Need lunch recommendation for today! Square-Victoria or Cote du Beaver Hall!!

I am looking for a decent lunch place for today, on a budget ($20-35 for 2 people). So Beaver Hall and Andiamo are out of the question. Either on Côte du Beaver Hall or Square Victoria.
Any ideas?

Great dining in/near Old Montreal?

Definetely DNA! Club de Chasse et Peche is indeed very nice, but DNA is amazing.

Need a list of cheap/good eats for downtown, Montreal from July 1-4th (and possibly list of things to do =D )

A good place to start would be with this thread: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/674455

Guy-Concordia metro station is the "new China town", so you'll find a lot of good & cheap options.

Guy A. Lepage resto on Notre-Dame?

I had an amazing lunch at DNA as well a few months ago! Probably my favourite restaurant yet this year!

Chef to cook dinner at my home

I also had Jerome from le Gourmeyeur come over and cook dinner for a bunch of friends and myself, and it was really good! I cannot recommend him highly enough!
Next time you hire him... ask for the rabbit ragoût with foie-gras sauce... TO DIE FOR!!

Les Enfants Terribles?

I had lunch there this week, and while the food was very good, I found it a bit over-priced. But then again, this is Outremont we're talking about and a place where one goes to be seen.
My entrée was haricots verts & marinated mushrooms with shaved parmesan. Lovely and refreshing on a very hot day! The main was the (apparently famous) salmon tartare with caviar. I must admit it was really nice, very well balanced flavours. It came with a salad and fries. Fries are fries... but these were good fries.
Dessert was a deliciously refreshing pear custard...-something (I don't remember what they called it).

All in all, a truly great summer lunch, albeit a bit expensive (for my wallet).

Visiting over christmas. ISO Belgian, Spanish and Moroccan

Our first time at this place was about two years ago as part of a group (about 12 people if I recall correctly). Although the food had been good, the service was not.
But we decided to give it another try yesterday.
It's a very cozy place with brick walls and lots of wood. The service was also friendly and warm, nothing compared to our experience there two years ago.
As an entree, I had the escargots gratiné, and my better half had the Caesar salad. As far as Caeser goes, he really enjoyed it. The escargots were good too, although I would have preferred a stronger cheese.
The main meal was fabulous. Me: Madascar mussels (cream, cognac & Madascar pepper) & fries, Him: rib steak & fries with a wine & cream sauce. My mussels were perfectly cooked, and absolutely delicious. His wine & cream sauce really made me want to try to reproduce it.

All in all, I am very happy to have given this place another try. Our waitress was friendly, knowledgeable and the food arrived at a good pace. The food was delicious and the menu also offers enough choice for the non-mussels lovers.

Rehearsal Dinner: Where can 25 people eat well for $750 in Montreal!?

Interesting question! I really cannot think of anywhere, not with all those requirements. But I am very interested if someone comes up with an idea...

Old Longueuil restaurant on St-Charles St. W. ??

I am looking for a fairly nice restaurant in Vieux-Longueuil, on St-Charles St. W. for a dinner with friends. We like nice food (no particular cuisine comes to mind for now), and a good atmosphere (not a loud place though). All this for no more than $30-40 pp, before wine, tip and taxes.
Your recommendations?

Downtown Montreal for Lone Business Traveller

For dinner downtown: Cafe Ferreira for Portugueuse & seafood, Takara or Zenya for sushi, Decca 77, La Montee... all very nice, upscale.
A short walk away (to the Old Montreal): Le Local, Graziella...
For "exotic": Magdala for Ethiopian, Mirchi for Indian food.

APDC Au Pied Du Cochon, my review

I am a regular reader of posts on chowhound, and I know that many rave about APDC. Personally, I absolutely LOVED the place the first time I went, 3-4 years ago. I returned last year, and my experience was average.
While the cromesquis was, for me and my fellow diners, a miss as well (I just couldn't handle the oily-liquidy texture), we truly enjoyed everything else, with the onion soup and the poached pear being our favourites.
APDC is definetely a touristy-worthy place, IMO, and I love going there once a year. It's an institution... however, I agree with the fact that they shouldn't ride on their reputation. Service was also average last time I went.
