Dubrovnik and area

Was just in Croatia in July with my boyfriend -My favorite spot in Dubrovnik was Taj Mahal which is Bosnian food- try their bread and anything with cheese filling. Their meat is also amazing. It's a nice change from the usual fare in Croatia. There's also a decent pizza spot called Oliva. Buza bar is not at all overrated for drinks. Do it. The view is wonderful.

Dubrovnik has rather uninspired cuisine, unfortunately. The city is very tourist driven, and many menus look the same but prices vary. The fanciest place we went was "Dubravka 1836" and I was not impressed with the service or the food though a lot of people on the interwebz seem to love it- it was super overpriced for what it was.

All in all we had better food in Split and Istria. By far the best place we ate in Croatia was Monte (near the church- not to be confused with the hotel) in Rovinj... I will never forget that meal!

Also regarding finding locals who open their homes, there are a few sites to check out like EatWith or MealSharing. Did not do this, but would love to hear what your experience is like!

Zagreb & Dubrovnik

Pretty much anywhere that says "Konoba" at the beginning of the restaurant name is a Croatian restaurant.

Turkey Pad See Ew

I would like to point out that many of us veggies out here always request that this dish is made with no fish sauce at restaurants, and love it anyway.

i fully plan on making this recipe sans the turkey.
