But the reality is that two pieces of fruit or two vegetables off the same plant can vary.
Buying from the same vendor is a good path.

There is vital wheat gluten added. That always has worked for me.
I don't think that is the issue
I think overuse the first time, too much heat.
By the way, the folks on the King Arthur help line are phenomenal.

I am surprised about the paucity of good breakfast places, in Nortampton we have several great breakfast places.
If you are ever passing through check out green bean, Joe's or even River Valley Market, the food coop .

Dinner Party for a Beginner?

I would make a more seasonal version of a chicken stew, with roasted roots instead of tomatoes, a nice grain like barley or farro, a tart salad after and a nice bought or homemade dessert. If homemade, maybe an apple tart or poached pears. Every thing but the salad can be made ahead.

Re : Marbella, it has been done to death IMO and is way too sweet for lots of people.

I agree. It is wonderful with duck fat and also with lamb bacon, I have had it served for Shabbat with both these ingredients, the former in Paris.

A cup of dried yields about three cups cooked.
For fresh limas I would sautée in some bacon fat with onion or shallot and eat plain

For vegetarian borscht I love the Moosewood recipe, just leave out the sour cream or use a little silken tofu for creaminess. This recipe is good without it too.
I don't like vegan yogurt, but if you do, go for it

Best breakfast in Brattleboro?

We are staying overnight after the apple dinner at Scott farm at he Hampton Inn in Brattleboro but can't face their "free breakfast"
Is there somewhere we should not miss ? Otherwise we'll just do brunch at Hope and Olive in Greenfield on our way home.

Great restaurants in Springfield area

I like Paul and Elizabeth's for simple , clean pescatarian, Banh Mi Saigon for Pho and Bahn Mi, green bean for great locally sourced breakfast and lunch, Great Wall in Florence for reasonably good Chinese, local Burger, Amanouz for felafel and shwarma,and Herrell's for ice cream.

Sunderland is furtherbut I like the Blue Heron a lot for a more serious meal.
Also in greenfield. Hope and Olive.

Today is pork chops and apples and cabbage braised in beer and cider, as well as some mashed turnips.
Tomorrow: roast chicken with Smitten Kitchens falltoush salad( roasted Delicata and Brussels sprouts with toasted pita dressed with a sumac concoction)

Why use evaporated milk instead of cream in fish/clam chowder?
