Another side for my Chanukah dinner?

We are having braised duck( this is braised without liquid) and potato and cabbage latkes cooked in duck fat with applesauce and sour cream on the side.
I would like to serve something else to cut all this richness. Maybe salad with a citrus dressing? Or some bitter greens, cooked or raw?
Any thoughts? We like most veg but not fennel.

I like the egg whites, because of the crunch. I don't see what is a lot of work about it. You beat one egg white and add the spices you want and bake.
And with this method you can use very little sugar and still get the sweetness to balence the salt and spice.
The coating is very thin and crunchy.

Cabbage latkes and cauliflower latkes are both delicious and work well for diabetics and low carb folks.

Help me!! SOS! Hot and Sour Soup

Chinese red vinegar is much more flavorful than red wine vinegar. My recipe ises white pepper for heat, served in the bowl with the vinegar.
It also has tiger Lilly buds, black mushrooms, tree fungus,all these things give flavor. Also ginger.
I don't think it is accurate that all recipes have the same ingredients; a quick google search reveals several with way more complexity than yours.

Yet another time CI is making things more comic acted than necessary.
I do this all the time and I thaw in the fridge for a day and then bring to room temp on the counter, still wrapped.
