Good Chinese in Dover DE?
There is none unfortunately. If you want the best of the bad, Rice in West Dover (in the same strip mall as the closed down Superfresh) is the best Dover has to offer.
Szechuan Restaurant- Wilmington, DE
Gotta add my two cents regarding The Crownery as well. I've had countless bad Chinese meals in my time, but the worst I've ever had was one year ago at this horrid excuse for a restaurant.
I haven't yet found a good Chinese restaurant in Delaware. If I lived upstate, I'd drive the 20 minutes to Philly and eat at Schezuan Tasty House on Arch St. in Chinatown.

Wilmington, DE - Reporting back
hmmmm...good diner cooking. That pretty much describes just about every one of the "best" restaurants in this state.
Philly Chowhounds need help for Wilmington, DE
I'm sorry, but you're wrong. Delaware is absolutely the home of the most mediocre restaurants on the east coast. Sure there are a couple OK places, but three or four in an entire State is pretty sad.
Trenton - DeLorenzo's Tomato Pies (not DeLorenzo's Pizza)
I sencond the vote for Papas! Best pie anywhere!
Coal-Fired Pizza in Ellicott City open
OK, finally tried this place out the other day. Had a very simple cheese pie with signature sauce. Quite frankly I was bitterly disappointed. The sauce itself was just plain bad. Loaded (and I mean LOADED) with oregano to the point it was almost not edible. Real tomato pie is so simple it amazes me that people can't get it right. A simple sauce using crushed tomatoes is all it takes....the more one tries to gussy it up the worse it becomes.
The crust was flavorless. The best pizza's have a good tasting crust. I don't know what makes it that way...maybe a little olive oil in the dough or something else, but this one had no flavor at all. Coming from a coal oven I found that very surprising.
If you want to try the best try Papa's Tomato Pies in Trenton, NJ.
Review: Thai Style in Dover, DE
Hi Josie:
I think I've tried the place. Used to be Vietnamese pho place? If so, I liked the pho they used to sell much more than the Thai food they now sell. It's better than Thai Style, but only slightly.
Can I really save money by joining Costco?
I lived in NJ for 43 years before escaping last year. The state has many antiquated laws on the books involving gasoline retailing, including no self service is allowed, gas cannot be discounted for members, and no purchase is necessary to participate in give-aways. Thus if you pull into a BJ's, Costco, etc. they are obligated by law to give you the member price for gasoline.
These laws and pizza are the only thing I miss about Jersey.
Crabs near(ish) to Dover DE
Boondocks in Smyrna is well known for their crabs. It's one of those places where they cover the table in paper, give you a hammer and let you go to town.
Unfortunately they are only open Fri & Sat during the winter and crabs are out of season right now (I think)
Where did Michele Lorie's in Trenton go??
Ask my in-laws to bring me down my favorite chocolate cake on their way down to visit us in DE and they came empty handed!! Said it had closed!!!!!!!
Anyone know what happened? Did they re-locate?
Review: Thai Style in Dover, DE
Gotta disagree with this review. I've given this place 2 tries in the past year. They won't get a third.
New to DE
Hi & welcome to DE...the culinary nightmare of the east. We moved here a year ago and can count the good meals on one hand.
For Thai try Tasty Thai in New Castle. Storefront place in a strip mall. Best Thai this side of NYC.
