Seared tuna mediteranean salad at Cafe R&D

Best cookies in Dallas

Potbelly makes some incredibly good cookies I must say.

Two Yankees Reporting back...

Who the hell sent them to Ojedas?

Central Texas BBQ coming to Dallas' Oak Cliff.

I'm still apprehensive about whether this place is going to have a pedigree yet lack in delivery. I see a family connection and a classically trained chef, what I don't see is any pitmaster experience turning out the goods in Lockhart. I'm also not sure how easy it would be to get clearance from City of Dallas to set up a open pit style smokehouse ala Lockhart, Luling and Lexington which I think has to be one of the keys to how they do it down there.

I hope I'm wrong and I hope its everything Dallas needs, but I'm not counting my briskets before they've hatched.

Dallas Steakhouse Recommendations

Al Biernat's and The Place at Perry's are my top 2 steaks.... Bob's (Lemmon Location) used to be but hasn't been as good last couple of visits.

Hillcountry Style BBQ in Dallas area

If I need a fix I too will do Baker's Brothers but we really need to stop talking about it in a thread about Hill Country BBQ.

Hillcountry Style BBQ in Dallas area

Maybe you can look for someone who specializes in bbq catering, check out their wares and go from there.... Of course, I'm not familiar with anyone who does bbq specific catering but I'd have to imagine they're out there somewhere.

Best non-chain reasonably-priced Real Chili Joint/Steakhouse that's Kid Friendly

There used to be a tasty place that served chili near Downtown Dallas, Chapman's but it recently closed because of some landlord issues.

I don't know of any other destination spot for chili other than Tolbert's and I would concurr with DallasDude's assesment.

Dallas is notoriously a poor spot for BBQ. You might want to check out Off the Bone which is south of FW and probably 20-30 minutes from Duncanville.

It is a bit funny that you just happened to pick three types of cuisine BBQ, Chili and inexpensive steaks that I think most would associate with Texas that are definitely not the strengths of the local dining scent.

Pretty much every competition chili recipe I've ever come across includes some amount of tomato sauce.

Geoduck in North Dallas

I'd say your best bets would be Yutaka or Teppo... maybe Tei-Tei too

Solo diner, late dinner near Galleria

You should also keep in mind, Oceanaire has 1/2 priced PEI oysters so long as you eat them at the bar.

Tacos El Guero?

Taqueria Pedritos better be on the list...

Tacos El Guero?

I thought it an odd spot for a taco spot named guero.... unless there's more than one meaning for guero....

NYC Corned Beef in Dallas

No need to go to Cindi's unless you can't get to Deli News, the food is incomparable IMO

Best Philly Cheesesteaks in DFW?

That thing is good, albeit too big... I've had it twice and both times contemplated killing myself once I reached my car.

Half priced happy hour food at higher end restaurants.

I am a big fan of The Place at Perry's happy hour... Discounted bar menu (which includes their fantastic filet sliders), half priced wines by the glass and $8 martinis....

Best place to buy grills?

DD,

I'll give you $40 and you can double your money. Always wanted a HB....

Where to buy bolilos (Torta bread) in Dallas?

I appreciate it, Mr.Knower of all things yum.....

Where to buy bolilos (Torta bread) in Dallas?

I'm sure one or more of the various Torta spots in town sells bolilos, wanted to check and see if someone knew of a place for certain to save me some time...

Good News for all of you ex-Californians looking for good Mexican food in the DFW metroplex!

I would suggest the one good visit was an outlier.... I used to eat at Tinos as a kid and some people swear by it, would suggest those people had likely never eaten at another restaurant before.

Californians like really bad Mexican food?

Tinos is a step above Alpo. IMHO.

Barbecue in Dallas?

Are you nuts? Smoke? Best in Texas?

Have you been to Lockhart?

I'm looking for a butcher shop / meat market (not a grocer or restaurant).

That's odd, I find Rudolphs to be considerably less expensive than CM/WF....

Typically I get prime, dry aged bone-in ribeye from Rudolphs for 16.99/lb and CM is 25.99/lb and higher....

CM meat department no longer gets any of my business, on one occasion they refused to grind to order .5 lbs of lamb, veal and pork for me, saying that they had pre-ground packs at the end of the case... when i explained I didn't need the 4.5 lbs of meat that would result in they said they were out of ground meat...

next time I wanted chicken thighs and someone pointed me to the pre-package case of thigh quarters "these are the only thighs we have" and I asked them to remove the legs that didn't work for the recipe, they said no....

anyone been to the Meddlesome Moth yet?

Who doesn't eat veal?

What was the value of the coupon?

Lardo

You may want to ask Julian at Nonna. I have had Lardo on the charcuterie menu and he may be able to steer you in the right direction.
