Cozy / Romantic Restaurants in Vienna? (plus spaetzle / kaiserschmarren recos :) ) Thanks Sturmi! Will take a look through these. Last year we visited the Christmas market in Nuremberg and stumbled across this gem: http://www.albrecht-duerer-stube.de/b... . We had the most amazing kartoffelknoedel, rouladen, and plums in mulled wine .... reminded me very much of the food my Grandma makes at home! It was perfectly quaint, and decorated with small handmade christmas ornaments. If there is anything similar in Vienna we'd love to hear. Thanks again! |

Cozy / Romantic Restaurants in Vienna? (plus spaetzle / kaiserschmarren recos :) ) Hi Everyone! I know there is a ton of information on Vienna here but was hoping for some help filtering to the coziest / most romantic with delicious austrian food? My boyfriend and I will be visiting for the Christmas markets in December and would appreciate a couple of dinner recommendations that are warm / cozy / christmasy and serve great Austrian food. Additionally, I have big love for stodgy food and was hoping someone could direct to the best restaurants for spaetzle and kaiserschmarren in the city? Thanks in advance!! Lauren |

Trying Again... Costa Smeralda / Gulf Orosei Hi Everyone! I posted this question a few weeks back but haven't received any responses so thought I would give it a try (google isn't being very fruitful and would appreciate perspective from CHers!) I will be visiting Sardinia in August and was wondering if any might have recommendations for either the Smeralda Coast region (staying near Porto Cervo) or Gulf Orosei (staying near Cala Gonone). Have searched the board for both of these regions specifically. Looking for delicious sardinian / broader italian food, in nice atmosphere. As Porto Cervo can be quite expensive, any suggestions for both a splurge and a more reasonably priced night out would be helpful. Thanks in advance!!!!! |

Looking for input on first pass at Amalfi Coast eating plan! Thanks secondsplz! We do very much enjoy the family run experience.... which is why we are staying at Mami Camilla in Sorrento (have stayed there on a post university trip previously and loved it!), and Casa Cuccaro in Nocelle. Given that, I don't think we'll be short on hospitality. How would you say the food compares at Barilotto di Nonno vs. La Tagliata? Is one better eating than the other? (I seem to have read in a few places that La Tagliata is more about the atmosphere than the food... would you agree?) For anyone else who's reading, I've since found out Hosteria Il Pino is shut for lunch, which adds that as another potential dinner option on Day 2 or 4. Thanks! ----- La Tagliata Il Pino |

Looking for input on first pass at Amalfi Coast eating plan! Hi Everyone! I'm planning a trip to Amalfi Coast & Sardinia for mid-August and am hoping to draw on CH expertise for some great meal options. Have poured through the existing Amalfi reviews (some great stuff in there, thank you!) and pulled together a first draft of restaurant options and was hoping to get some input. For context, I will be travelling with my boyfriend. We both love to eat, and when travelling look for places with a focus on food and local flavours. Generally prefer authentic restaurants with great atmosphere (cozy / romantic, or fun & lively) to white tablecloth michelin star.... but that being said, if there are any "must trys" that fit in the white tablecloth category we are always open to a bit of variety. Current plan as follows: Sorrento - 3 nights - staying at Mami Camilla cooking school (breakfasts & dinners will likely all be based here, but if any "don't miss's" in Sorrento please shout) Based on Nocelle - 4 nights: Day 2 - (Day spent in Amalfi) Day 3 - (Day spent doing hike of the gods / in Praiano) Day 4 - (Trying to leave day flexible on location) A couple of specific questions: Thanks VERY much in advance!!!!!! ps - I've also posted a previous question on Sardinia and have yet to receive any replies, so if anyone has advice on Cala Gonone / Costa Smeralda recommendations that would be greatly appreciated Thanks again and happy eating! ----- Cumpa Cosimo Il Ritrovo La Tagliata Il Pino Buca di Bacco |

Road Trip Through France: Bordeaux, Biarritz, Beziers Hello Everyone! Starting Sunday my boyfriend and I will be embarking on a road trip throuh France, with planned stops in the Bordeaux region, Biarritz, and Beziers. Does anyone have any suggestions (breakfast / lunch / dinner) for great restaurants in these cities or en route? Looking for delicious regional cuisine / wine in a cute / cozy atmosphere....preferably on the traditional side vs. michelin star / haute cuisine. On a side note, if anyone has recommendations for B&B's in these areas would be great to hear those as well. Thanks so much and happy eating! |

Paris Valentines 911!!! Please Help! Hello! This is my first time posting on chowhound and I'm hoping to enlist some expertise! My boyfriend and I will be celebrating valentine's day in paris this weekend. I have been relentlessly searching chow and the web for suggestions but have found myself more confused than anything. I am looking for one restaurant to round out the following dinner itinerary: Friday Night - Laperouse I have tried Pre Catalan, Le Grand Vefour, and Taillevent to fill my Saturday night black hole, but all are either booked or not open on Saturdays! Top two prioritys are GREAT (french) food, and romantic atmosphere. Fine Dining is an option, but would also be interested in pursuing a more traditional / quaint / cozy dinner experience. Some thoughts so far are Chez Georges (rue de Mail) and Le Coupe Chou. Any help would be greatly appreciated..... Thanks!! |
