Toddler-friendly dining weekend, please help me! Also, Acquerello or La Folie for only adult dinner? Thanks tre2012 for the the very detailed report! Glad that you have mostly positives to say and I will try that scallop dish for sure. I am really looking forward to our visit and will definitely report back. Thanks again! |

Toddler-friendly dining weekend, please help me! Also, Acquerello or La Folie for only adult dinner? Thanks for the clarification, I have wanted to dine at La Folie for some time and have never tried foie gras, so we will keep our reservation. Looking forward to it! |

Toddler-friendly dining weekend, please help me! Also, Acquerello or La Folie for only adult dinner? Well these are not good reports at all. I would hate to spend that much money and not have a great experience. Maybe I should stick to something I know such as Perbacco or Aziza? What about Marlowe or Wayfare Tavern? I know they are in a totally different bracket than La Folie and Acquerello... |

Toddler-friendly dining weekend, please help me! Also, Acquerello or La Folie for only adult dinner? Hi Ruth, Unfortunately my son has not developed our sense of eating adventure just yet, so I will most likely feed him before we go out and offer him a few bites of whatever we're eating in the hopes he will grow to love all foods : ) We are planning on going to Golden Gate Park, but I will definitely check out your reccomendations since they are so much closer. We have our own car and thanks for the second on La Folie. I have never had foie gras and am looking forward to trying at such a revered establishment. Any suggestions for Sunday breakfast that would trump Brenda's? |

Toddler-friendly dining weekend, please help me! Also, Acquerello or La Folie for only adult dinner? Thanks Steve, Ideale is now on the list. I appreciate your advice. Any suggestions for a lunch, possibly a great sandwich or burger place? |

Toddler-friendly dining weekend, please help me! Also, Acquerello or La Folie for only adult dinner? Thanks for the early dining tip! Have you eaten at Mission Chinese? I have seen mixed reviews for the place and really want to pick one outstanding Asian place for our trip as I am the designated itinerary planner and have all the pressure on my shoulders. Any other Asian suggestions if Mission Chinese isn't worth our time? What about Thanh Long? |

Toddler-friendly dining weekend, please help me! Also, Acquerello or La Folie for only adult dinner? Thanks for the Italian recommendation, I had Ideale and Ristorante Milano written down as possibilities from some of the posts on this site. Would either of these be more toddler-friendly over the other/have highchairs? Which has the best food? Thanks for the vote on La Folie, I have heard great things about the place and am leaning toward it more than Aquerello. |

Toddler-friendly dining weekend, please help me! Also, Acquerello or La Folie for only adult dinner? Hi All, I have relied on this wonderful site for my past eating forays in your wonderful city and hope you can guide me in the right direction again. We are staying in the Financial District (myself, husband, eighteen-month-old son, and my mother/aka nanny so that we can have at least one adult dinner) on June 29th-July 1st. I have reservations on Friday night at La Folie for our adult dinner, but also made a reservation at Aquerello on Saturday night and have to pick between the two, please help me decide if you have dined at these places. Here is my very loose/sparse eating itinerary: Friday: Saturday: Sunday: Price is not a major concern and we will have a car and are willing to travel for great food. Some of our past favorites are Perbacco, Tartine Bakery, Aziza, Roli Roti Sandwich, Brenda's, Humphry Slocumbe's, Boulettes Larder, etc. Thinking about checking out Dynamo Donut and Mr. and Mrs. Miscellaneous on this trip too. Worth it? Would like a really good Asian and Italian place that will welcome our little guy if possible. Thanks for any suggestions! |

Eating-Centered Trip With Mom. Please Help Me Make It Perfect! I am looking forward to trying Canteen for dinner and hope we enjoy it as much as you and your parents did. I made our reservation on OpenTable. I have been wanting to try Poc-Chuc for awhile now and was very disappointed to find them closed during our last trip. I will be sure to plan better this time! Thanks for your suggestions! |

Eating-Centered Trip With Mom. Please Help Me Make It Perfect! Hello again fellow Chowhounders! I have been reading reviews on this wonderful site in preparation for another eating-centered weekend in San Francisco this September 10-12. My husband and I will be bringing along mom for this trip and we will be staying at the Omni Hotel in the Financial District and have our own transportation. We don't have a set budget and enjoy all types of food, so I welcome additional restaurant suggestions if you feel I have missed something extraordinary. I would love your input/advice with regards to this rough eating itinerary as you have steered me to some real gems in the past! Thanks in advance! Friday: Saturday: Sunday: Thanks in advance for your help with my ever-growing itinerary! ----- Saigon Sandwich Shop Nopa Ferry Plaza Farmers Market |

First trip to San Francisco - need recommendations to fill in a few gaps Hi Silverwing, My husband and I received some excellent suggestions from fellow chowhounders a couple months ago for our last trip to San Francisco in February. I noticed that there are quite a few places on your list that we got to try, so I thought I would chime in. My favorites from your list are: ----- Bi-Rite Creamery Just For You Pizzeria Delfina |

Honeymoon in San Francisco - Eating Tour Suggestion, $1000 Budget for 4 days I second Whiner's suggestion of Perbacco. This was by far my favorite meal in San Francisco during my last visit. The prices are unbelievably reasonable and the food was spectacularly perfect. I can't wait to go back again! I hope you have a great trip. ----- |

My weekend trip in review. Thanks so much for the great advice and suggestions! Grayelf, I really appreciated your suggestions. Our trip was terrific! Perbacco was by far the best meal of our trip. I can't wait to go back. Hopefully you have an equally pleasing experience. |

My weekend trip in review. Thanks so much for the great advice and suggestions! Many thanks for the great advice and recommendations you all provided in my previous post! My husband and I had a great time eating our way through San Francisco this last weekend, 02/26-02/28. Here is a brief outline of all the delectable goodies we got our hands on: BRENDA’S FRENCH SOUL FOOD PIZZERIA DELFINA HUMPHRY SLOCOMBE BOULEVARD Farmer’s Market Burmese Kitchen Perbacco Canteen Bob’s Doughnut Eastern Bakery Limon Arinell Bi-Rite Market On the way home we stopped by Ikea in Oakland and found ourselves to be hungry yet again, so we ate at Pasta Pomodoro. We had: Thanks again to my fellow Chowhounds for helping to make this trip delicious! I will be back, hopefully sooner rather than later, for another adventure in your wonderful city. |

Too many dining options and not enough time! Help me refine my weekend itinerary. Thanks for recommending Bob's, I'll have to try their offerings as well! |

Too many dining options and not enough time! Help me refine my weekend itinerary. Thanks for the update on Bi-Rite being closed during our trip. What a bummer! |

Too many dining options and not enough time! Help me refine my weekend itinerary. Thanks so much for all the great advice! Too many dining options and not enough time! Help me refine my weekend itinerary. We live in Bakersfield, CA which is about 5 hours south of San Francisco and definitely not a culinary wonderland! Thanks for your suggestion on trying Burmese food. I checked out Burmese Kitchen's menu and it looks great! I think this will add a little variety to our dining itinerary. I seriously doubt I will find a local Burmese restaurant in the event that I become hooked. I guess all the more reason to take more trips! Hopefully you can help me out with my Sunday brunch conundrum. I was planning on going to Absinthe, but I have gotten a lot of recs for Canteen. My husband and I aren't huge drinkers and it seems like drinks are what Absinthe is known for. I have also gotten a rec for Bar Tartine. So what will it be Absinthe, Canteen, or Bar Tartine? |

Too many dining options and not enough time! Help me refine my weekend itinerary. Checked out the menu and Brenda's sounds great! We have already been to Tartine and Just For You, so I think it will be good for us to try a new place for breakfast on friday. Thanks for the suggestion. |

Too many dining options and not enough time! Help me refine my weekend itinerary. Thanks so much for all the input. I will definitely go with Tartine over Just For You on Friday morning. I was hoping for at least one good Asian meal while we are in San Francisco and it sounds like I should avoid Katanaya. We had great ramen at Kintaro in Vancouver, B.C. a couple years ago and I was hoping for a similar experience at Katanaya. San Tung sounds like it may be decent based on your comments, but I'm looking for great. I have seen a lot of positive comments about Jai Yun. Should I consider it over San Tung? I am kind of worried about the prix-fixe lunch menu as I am slightly less adventurous than my husband. I took a look at the Pizzeria Delfina menu and it looks great! I will definitely plan on having lunch here. Thanks for the great advice! |

Too many dining options and not enough time! Help me refine my weekend itinerary. Thanks for the suggestions. I checked out Bar Tartine and they only serve brunch on Saturday and Sunday. Do you think this would be a better option than Absinthe for brunch on Sunday? |

Too many dining options and not enough time! Help me refine my weekend itinerary. Hello fellow Chowhounds, I have spent quite some time researching San Francisco dining options on your wonderful site in preparation for our February 26-28 stay. We have been to San Francisco a number of times, but it has been almost three years since our last visit. We are in our late twenties, enjoy most cuisines, don't have a set price point, and hope to find some real gems on this trip. This is my first post, so hopefully I cover all bases in terms of information you should require to help me plan a wonderful food-centered weekend. My husband and I will be staying at the Hyatt Regency in the Embarcadero area. We will have our own transportation and have don't mind driving for a good meal. I have a rough idea of where we will be eating, but would love your two cents as there are so many great options. Friday: Breakfast: I would like to go to Tartine Bakery again, but my husband would like to visit Just For You again. What do you recommend? We have already been to Dottie's, Mama's, and Boulettes Larder for breakfast. Any other musts? Saturday: Breakfast: Ferry Building Marketplace Sunday: Brunch: Absinthe Treats: Thanks is advance for your help. I am looking forward to a great weekend in your wonderful city! |
