Best Crab/Seafood?

Good call on the cioppino! It was tomato-y, zesty, spicy, fishy goodness! Nothing bad for you in that at all!

Tadich Grill itself was great for a single gal - $10 for valet was well worth the lack of parking on the the street, and the set up was perfect. The restaurant only has 6 tables, and the rest is set up as a bar area - so it's not like you're sitting at a booth alone.

The bar runs the length of the restaurant, and I was pleased that they relegated the drinkers to a smaller area up front, and left those of us that wanted to eat with more stools! It had a great feel to it, and although I'm not sure if I would pay $28 for the cioppino again, it was alot of high quality food. The sourdough bread was great, though the waiter seemed hesitant to put a little more in my to go box. It was so good I skipped the garlic bread - plain, chewy sourdough only added to the stew and the garlic bread wasn't stiff enough to scoop up a shrimp.

In my $28 cioppino:

2 scallops (1" diameter)
4 Mussels in the shell
shredded crab in the sauce
2 large shrimp
15 tiny shrimp
1 fillet of firm fish (unsure what kind!)
1 cup of spicy, tomato-y sauce

Overall, great, safe atmosphere (the waiters wore white coats, and some had a nice italian accent to add to the fun), good for a single dinner or for happy hour, high quality food.

The highs:
Sourdough bread (YUM)
The experience (supposedly the oldest restaurant in SF, felt like you stepped back in time!)
The sauce
Convenient valet in a very busy area

The Lows:
Price ($44 for one person after tip and valet - water and cioppino only)
Would have preferred crab legs on top (if there was crab in there, I couldn't tell)

Recommended!

Best Crab/Seafood?

Hi Everyone,

I always rely on Chowhound for my area (Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill), so I wanted to turn to you all for a little guidance.

About the food I would love...
1) I love crab, and rarely get any over here based on cost and availability.
2) I want some really great seafood, so even if it's not crab...
3) I'm (fairly) health conscious - I would rather plain old crab, lemon shrimp and veggies over she-crab soup or crab cakes.

About the restaurant I would love...
1) A sit-down restaurant (doesn't have to be fancy)
2) A safe area (single female, never traveled solo before!)
3) Close parking (or valet)
4) Brunch/Lunch/Dinner (any)

I am in town for...
Business on Friday. I have half of Thursday and Saturday until my 11pm flight free.
Location really matters - safe, preferably somewhere in an area I am touring on Saturday (Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman's Wharf, possibly Alcatraz?)

On another note...any city sights recommendations for a *1* day tour??
