Recommendations for Lhasa ?

I will be spending a few days in Lhasa next month. Would appreciate any recommendations for Tibetan cuisine. Understand I should expect some Sichuan style food and am most interested in quality

Service Compris ?

With our trip to Paris drawing ever closer, I would appreciate any thoughts on tipping in Bistros and Restaurants beyond Service Compris

Thanks

Attire in Paris Restaurants

"....I don't understand why so many men bitch, snarl and moan rather than put on a nice pair of slacks and a blazer.....

Hmmm, I had sort of assumed that a sports coat, nice shirt and tie are MINIMUM standards but had wondered if I had to go as far as a suit.

Not easy being a shlubby tourist :-)

thank you for the update, we are now only 3 weeks away from our trip to Paris, and I think that the lunch option at Allards is a very good one for us.
Once again appreciate everyone's inputs

Bistro with a good Vegetarian Option ?

On our forthcoming visit to Paris, we have a dinner scheduled with relatives who are both vegetarian and quite specific about food preparation (no chicken stock etc)

Any recommendations in the 6th or thereabouts for a restaurant with a strong diverse dinner menu that includes a decent vegetarian option? Price point would be around 60 euros.

Twenty Fifth Anniversary in the 6th Arrondissement

Again, thank you, I really appreciate all the help in trying to understand a neighbourhood.

Twenty Fifth Anniversary in the 6th Arrondissement

Thank you all for bringing my posting "to life" and I very much appreciate the input that has been given in the last couple of days. I have been reading and searching this website which is really helpful and positive. I also enjoy current postings and help

We will certainly head for the market on Rue de Buci and I love the idea of buying flowers from the florist to take to the room.

I will also explore further La Tour D'Argent.

Any thoughts on a bakery, or wine shop or cheese shop ?

Again thank you all for taking the time to post.

Allard - Good Risk Bad Risk ?

Tourist Not Tourist

Again thank you all for your input - please let me clarify that we ARE Tourists (US & UK) and were not specifically looking for an Non Tourist (or Tourist) experience .

Allard does show up in many books, our hotel has recommended it, but many of the online reviews have been negative. With 5 nights planned in Paris at the end of March I am looking for fun and interesting places that serve interesting traditional food , have some level of reliability, and not too aggressive pricing.

I should add that the response from Taillevent to our dinner booking has been exceptional, they could not have been more responsive.

Thank you all for your thoughts it can only make the trip more worthwhile and I hope you will tolerate more questions as we get closer to our March 18 departure.

Thank you very much, looks like a very nice choice for us. I really have been thinking of interesting restaurants and bistros in the immediate vicinity of Dauphine and this seems to fit very nicely

Allard - Good Risk Bad Risk ?

THANK YOU EVERYBODY !

This will actually be our third visit to Paris, but on prior trips it has been with our children and very much driven by tourist needs. This trip is to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary, and I am trying to find some quiet restaurants, that would be appropriate to a very low key visit.

With regard to our cullinary tastes, they are conservative. Staying at Hotel D'Aubusson and looking for enjoyable and interesting bistros within the 6th. We have chosen Taillevent for the 25th anniversary (I know, but its once in a lifetime)

I am still not really sure if Allard is a good pick, and I am not offended by the English speaking room

I will take a look at Voltaire - thanks for taking the time to give me some input. It is a little difficult trying to pick something worthwhile while sitting in Michigan

Allard - Good Risk Bad Risk ?

I have read some very uneven reviews of Allard - a good choice for dinner in the 6th E ?

Twenty Fifth Anniversary in the 6th Arrondissement

As a surprise for my wife, we will be spending 5 nights in March at the Hotel D'Aubisson in the 6th E.

Having done the tourist things on prior visits, it is intended to be low key, to enjoy the local community, the bread, wine and cheese shops, the cafes and the bistros. Some shopping in the galleries and maybe a museum

Any suggestions for shops, lunches, dinners would be great AND given that it is our 25th wedding anniversary, where should we go for that special dinner ?

Many thanks
