Trader Joe's Yea/Nay Thread - 4th quarter 2011 [OLD]
So I baked up the pour and bake brownies in a pouch. It was...okay. It had a weird foam texture, like I would imagine that furniture cushion-eating lady on "My Strange Addiction" would appreciate. It was a dense, chocolatey sponge cake. Not unpleasant, but not the typical brownie texture. The kids loved it.

Oh, second that! Got that yesterday and the fam hoovered that down. Also got a pour and bake brownie pouch. Basically a Capri-Sun like bag of brownie batter for $2.99. I'll report back once I bake it up

Target Bakeries give a free smashcake with a 1st birthday cake purchase. Didn't know about this and they gave us a cute little white cake "for the birthday girl" Kinda neat.
Boulevard Resteraunt and Bar going in on Wayzata blvd in Minnetonka
Went for a late lunch today. Had a nice tasty huge burger. Boulevard Royale with Cheese - double cheeseburger with frizzled leeks on a pretzel bun. Atmosphere was nice and friendly. Open kitchen, lots of woodfire.... bar in the center of the restaurant, very attentive server. Pleasant visit. They have a FB page, but no website as of yet.
What do I do with apple butter?
I just made 6 half-pints of apple butter after an apple buying spree at the arboretum. Thanks for all the tips. I think I'll try the AB and cream cheese idea right now!

Got the Roasted Corn and Bacon Pizza from Blue Moon Diner. Huge portion at $5. Nice crispy crust.
MSP - Galaxy Drive In - Anyone Been?
We went about two weeks ago - food was okay and delivered quickly and with a smile. It was a nice place to linger with the family. It wasn't crowded - steady stream of people coming in. Got a nice neighborhood vibe.

This app is wonderful! It's a steal at $1.99! Love how you don't need a wifi connection to access the recipes and the embedded timer is cool. Easy to use and so cool!
Twins Stadium Food?
The Dinger Dog was nothing to write home about. My daughter got the nachos from Senor Smokes and it was very nice - lots of fresh pico and veggies. She was hoping it would be just chips and cheese. I was very impressed with the fresh presentation. Pretzel was warm and huge and came with a cup o' cheese. Beautiful ballpark!
Where to purchase Irish boiling bacon?
Try Von Hanson's meats. I got some Irish bacon there last year. It's in the frozen section.
I love my Sodastream fizzy water machine
Really digging mine. Hubby got it for my for an Xmas present. The syrups aren't that great - Splenda aftertaste. I got some little bottles of "essence" to flavor water. At Macy's it was $3.99 - Same 3 pack was $10 at the sodastream website.
Thus far, we're liking it. Mostly the environmental angle and PITA-factor with bottles and cans sold me. Love the bubbles!

Finished the cranberry sauce, sweet potato pie, coleslaw (with pretty beauty heart radishes). Will work on the requested appetizer - brown sugar bacon wrapped smokies. After that, I'm prepping carrots.

Hub just drove by the old Cost Plus World Market at 394 and Hopkins Crossroad. Sign stating "Trader Joe's Coming Soon." No date or anything. Sounds like they gave up on putting one by the Macy's Mens/Home in the Ridgedale parking lot.
Great location with ample parking!
