The Savvy Wedding

I love the idea of having a taco truck or mobile bbq cater a wedding. I can only think of one wedding in my lifetime where the food was actually good. After a couple of beers, I don't know one guy who wouldn't love to sink his teeth into some hickory-smoked pork.

Slow Food Nation

I'm really excited to attend the event and have been telling everyone I know about it. There are so many different, cool things to do/see/taste, I'm having a hard time deciding how to spend my time there. Would love to know how other Chowhounds are planning to tackle the event. Advice needed!

La Brea Bakery Granola on Virgin America

Not sure if it's the same flavors, but La Brea sells their granola via Whole Foods.

Peas Pack Your Knives and Go

I was so bummed to see Antonia go -- she seems to have such a wonderful spirit, warm personality, and honest, good nature--plus major talent in the kitchen! Best of luck to her.

Those Inflammatory Scallops

What a great, juicy interview Thanks for asking all the questions that came to my mind during the show. Really wish Spike would have ditched the scallops and developed a Plan B. Good luck to Spike on his new gig.

By "this," I mean the Lotus Sanitizing System. I've told three other people about it already.

Crushing Bones with Alton Brown

I love Feasting on Asphalt and I'm glad to hear it's returning. In an interview following the last season, Alton hinted that it might be the last one. I always imagined those guys have a pretty good time on those roadtrips (and perhaps lots of heartburn).

Whole Grains with Flavor

I always prefer whole grains as I find them far more flavorful, especially if you toast some of them, such as quinoa or couscous, prior to cooking.

Fast and Furious Corn Chowder

This sounds pretty tasty although I would make a vegetarian version and use veggie broth instead of chicken broth and nix the meat. I often have some spare cilantro on hand, which always takes things up a notch or two. That, plus some smoky serrano hot sauce. Yum.

You're the Top!

It's sites like these that make me wonder how the last two hours slipped by in what seems like just a few deliciously statisfying minutes. Thanks for turning us on to such a great resource.

My Own Private Chef

I recently purchased this cookbook for my partner and myself and we're both really digging it. Not only are the recipes simple and yummy, but the book itself is also lovely to look at. In fact, I spent an hour the other day sitting in the sunshine completely aborbed in each page. Lastly, all the profits Jamie is making from this book are going toward his Fifteen Foundation which provides
disadvantaged young people with the professional training needed to obtain a career in the restaurant industry. So good food, goodwill -- can't beat that.

Where to find sweet potato fries?

I just had them for the first time at Cav's last night, and agree they are delicious.

Mushroom and Carrot Bulgur

I made this last night with a few tweaks and it was delish. I used veggie stock in place of water and added tons more carrots and mushrooms. I finished it off with fresh Italian parsley and toasted slivered almonds.

Chocolate birthday cake with fudge topping

I second Arizmendi's chocolate cake. It's delish. I just served a chocolate raspberry cake from Delessio's at a b-day dinner and although it was beautiful, it tasted like absolutely nothing and was a bit try. A total disappointment.

Back Bay Bakeries

Opps, sorry about the Back Bay typo. Willing to travel outside the immediate area for yummy goods. Thanks for your suggestions.

Back Bay Bakeries

I will be in town for the marathon next weekend and looking for bakery recommendations in the Bay Back area where we're staying. Specifically looking for dense, chewy, rich cookies and brownies, as well as hearty, grainy scones and breads. Thx!
