last minute Santa Fe - good new restaurants open in the last year or so?
Thanks, DebitNM! We didn't make it to any of the three, unf., but I will keep them in mind for the next time! So nice to be in the desert for awhile again.
last minute Santa Fe - good new restaurants open in the last year or so?
Chowpersons - I find myself suddenly badk in Santa Fe for a few days, and I haven't planned ahead for meals. Can you help? I was here a year ago and found some favorites had closed - that place Stefano's(?) on Agua Fria near the Sanctuario, and Bistro 315 was closed for reno, so am looking for new possibilities in New Mexican cuisine. Will do Pasquale's as always -- they never disappoint. How is Ristra these days? I hear 315 is reopened, is it as good as before, or under new owners? Went to Epazote last night and it was trying hard, but only okay. I would try them again sometime, I think. I like their idea of concentrating on mole. (Now if only they could update the piped-in music.) People seem to like La Choza and Santacafe, so will probably do at least one of those. Other thoughts? We're in town for only a short while, so price is not a great inhibitor. Leaning toward New Southwestern cooking rather than sushi, pizza, etc. Have tried Geronimo and most of the ones that have been around for years, just looking for what's new and alive... Thanks for any/all help!

suggestions from ribero del duero?
Thanks, KSS! I'm on the East Coast, but I'll call him anyway, sounds like he's a helpful guy. Do you remember the names of any of the other wines?
suggestions from ribero del duero?
My wine group is doing a series of tastings of Spanish wines, and I'd like to do a session on Ribero del Duero. My group (and I as well) lean heavily toward traditional wines rather than big/modern/extracted stuff. We had some great wines during the Rioja sessions (Lopez Heredia, etc.). I'll be getting a decently old Vega Sicilia, and probably a Pesquera, but feel trepidation over much of the rest. Are they all monster-truck wines in RdD? Suggestions for producers? I have no problem with earthy wines, just want to avoid too many head-ache-in-a-glass ones if I can. Thanks in advance
Some very young Chiantis, 11 of the 2006s
Sounds lika a great tasting, dw (?)! Who organizes your tastings? I often wish there were more good consumer-grade tastings here in NY. I could stock my cellar much more intelligently with reasonably priced wine if I could taste a dozen Chiantis side-by-side every winter. Seems as though there are millions of $75-bottle Burgundy or Bordeaux tastings around, but nothing to help you stock up the $25 stuff, which is a much larger percentage of the cellar. Nothing like good Chianti with a few years of bottle age on it. I bought a few bottles of the Rancia a month ago, and even though I know they'll be tough now, I'll have to open one up to at least know what I've got to look forward to. Thanks for your notes. Will definitely pick up some Berardenga, and one or two of the others as I stumble across them.
2010 - What are you buying?
My first post on Chowhound!
Some '02 San Vicente Rioja
'01 Rocca Barolo
Is Rhys really as "Burgundian" as people say? I am wary of such claims, but at $50 for village wines, if there's an alternative out there...
