Any feedback on Cake Couture (Edmonton)? Other recommendations for special birthday cake?
Thanks very much for the reply, raidar. I am looking for something that is special, but much of what I've seen are either very elegant wedding-type cakes (which I think may be too 'fussy' for the occasion) or cartoon-ish kids cakes. I'm pleased to hear good things about cake couture, as so far I've been impressed with both the service and the suggestions. My mom is an avid ballroom dancer, so Cake Couture has suggested a two tiered cake with dance-themed decorations and a special topper - special, but fun. Above all, I want something that is delicious and made with top-notch ingredients, so I'm glad to hear that from your experience they fit the bill. That said, any other ideas or feedback are welcomed!
I spoke to La Favorite and wasn't too impressed with their service or feedback over the phone. I was in touch with a couple of other places who have dropped the ball and haven't returned subsequent e-mails, etc.
Thanks again!
Any feedback on Cake Couture (Edmonton)? Other recommendations for special birthday cake?
Hi all -
I am looking to order a cake for about 40 - 50 people for my mom's 80th birthday.
I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with Cake Couture?

Also, if anyone had any other recommendations they would be much appreciated. I'm looking for something a little special, however my primary concern is that it be delicious and make of quality ingredients.
Thank you!
Need decent lunch spot in Calgary between airport and 64th Avenue - help!
Hi all -
I'm meeting a friend at the airport today. She was supposed to be in at 9:00 am but has now been delayed until 12:30, and leaves again a couple of hours later. I'm not familiar with that area of town at all, but am looking for a decent lunch spot either around the airport or around 64th Ave and Deerfoot (we need to zip over there to pick something up).
Thanks!
Best place for Christmas brunch in south Maui?
Hi all -
My husband and I are taking our parents to Maui for Christmas. We're staying in south Maui. I am wondering where the best bet would be for brunch on Christmas day? I was initially thinking one of the big Wailea hotels, but am certainly open to other suggestions. I've been to regular brunch at the Kai Lani and wasn't blown away. I was assuming that the Four Seasons might be the best, but given that I realize that it will be a big bill no matter where we go i thought that I'd check in here to see if anyone had any recommendations.
Thank you!
Special occasion restaurant in Edmonton that's open on Sunday?
Hello -
I am planning a dinner out to celebrate a birthday in Edmonton (I do not live there), and am trying to find a good choice that is open on Sundays. After reading some of the boards here I was inclined to look at Culina or Hardware Grill, but both are closed on Sundays. The area of town doesn't really matter, neither does the cuisine. Just looking for a great, memorable meal.
Any suggestions would be appreciated!
Brown rice sushi in Calgary?...
While I know that it's not 'traditional' it is better for you and I actually prefer the texture of the brown rice in some rolls, etc. I have had brown rice sushi overseas and in the US (and Vancouver), but strangely the only place that I've seen it here in Calgary is at my local Co-op. I was hoping to find a better source...
Brown rice sushi in Calgary?...
While I am a long-time Calgarian with my set of favorite local sushi haunts, I have yet to come across a good sushi restaurant offering the option of brown rice sushi. Perhaps this is just something that you need to ask for at the right establishment? Any suggestions would be most welcomed!
Thank you -
