My mother's southern Thanksgiving dinner with Sweet Potato Casserole, Cornbread Dressing, and Key Lime Pie. OMG, definitely worth traveling 6hours for.
My current drink of choice:
Ice cold San Pelligrino with lemon/lime over crushed ice, or Paradise brand Tropical Tea, over ice with an orange slice.
I really wish I could:
Eat anything and everything I want and still be slim and healthy. And also have a three day weekend with George Clooney and Brad Pitt at George's villa on Lake Como.
My "Go-to" dinner party dish:
Prime Rib, rotisseried on my cherished 1968 Farberware rotisserie/broiler that I got on eBay that bastes and crisps the roast in it's own fat and juices. (The motor now squeals as it rotates like an outraged pig, but I put it outside on the patio table and close the windows.)
My favorite comfort food:
My mom's Southern Cornbread Dressing with Giblet Gravy, or ANYBODY'S Mac&Cheese!
My top 5 favorite restaurants:
In America; La Petit Pier, Lake Tahoe. The Ivy, Beverly Hills. Alexis (for rack of lamb) San Francisco. The Boathouse, on Coronado Island CA. The River Cafe, New York
My most tattered cookbooks:
My mother's 1944 wedding gift of The Joy Of Cooking, Julia, The Professional Chef by the CIA, Around My French Table by Dorie Greenspan, some Martha Stewart, some Donna Hay, Get Slim On Great Food by Suzanne Somers (dam, that woman can cook!), the series Recipe Hall Of Fame (not gourmet but so easy!), everything Susan Branch because I LOVE the precious artwork and the recipes are solid classics. And of course anything by America's Test Kitchen which is usually my go-to-first.
