Club sauce in Toronto (or restaurants that serve it)?

Thanks, I'll look for it. I've never heard of it before, though- and when I Googled Spanish sauce I just got all kinds of Spanish sauces, and when I tried Spanish diner sauce this thread was the third result. Still, I'll definitely look. I need this stuff. You have no idea.

What's that? Any idea what they'd call it up here?

Club sauce in Toronto (or restaurants that serve it)?

I've only found a couple recipes for it. It seems to consist mostly of tomatoes, onions, peppers, vinegar, and sugar.

So, I'm on a desperate mission to find club sauce. The recipes I've found look pretty time-consuming, and I'm pretty lazy, so it would be nice if I could find a pre-made version. A restaurant that served a dish with club sauce would be even better, actually.

veg poutine in toronto

I'll probably try it pretty soon. I tried Stampede, and it was AMAZING. I find that the Smoke's at Dundas and Jarvis is better than the Queen and Bathurst one. I've never tried any other locations.

Trying to find Pokka black canned coffee in or near Toronto

Thanks- I finally found it there during the Night Market! It's not exactly the same as it used to be, but it's the closest thing.

Where can I get Neuro drinks in Toronto?

http://www.drinkneuro.com/

These ones.
There is a store search on their website, but it's messed up (I got a map view of a park and a non-matching, non-existent address).
Thanks!

I called Sanko- they said that they had the cappuccino flavour, but not the black coffee one (and he didn't know when they'd get it in next). The cappuccino one might be worth trying, though.

No, I didn't see it there. They have some other canned coffees that I might try, though.

veg poutine in toronto

I'm looking for good vegetarian poutine, so I'll follow this thread. I really didn't like Utopia's at all- not enough cheese and too much gravy, and it left a funny aftertaste in my mouth. I don't consider Lick's real poutine, but I like it anyway.

KETJAP MANIS: Where can I purchase a good one downtown?

I agree with the ABC brand recommendation. I found it in a supermarket in Chinatown (along Spadina, somewhere near Dundas). Most of those stores should carry it.

PAT Central is pretty close to me; it wouldn't be hard to check. I go there a lot and I haven't seen it, but I'll try it again. Thanks.

Trying to find Pokka black canned coffee in or near Toronto

I've been looking all over for Pokka black coffee. I used to buy it at a supermarket in the mall next to Pacific mall, but they seem to have stopped selling it. I see Pokka milk coffee all over the place, but I've tried it and it tastes pretty vile and doesn't give me nearly as much energy. If you know of anywhere that still sells it... you have no idea how grateful I'd be.

Here's a picture of the one I'm looking for:

a truly vegetarian Jamaican patty.

They're amazing. I've asked them about patties, and the last time I was there they told me they were still looking for a good supplier/recipe.

a truly vegetarian Jamaican patty.

I'm looking for the same thing. I emailed taste of life to see if their patties were sold in stores, but I never got a reply and after hearing that they weren't very good... screw it.
I'll try the Rastafarian place, but The Big Carrot and Planet Organic are pretty far from me and I want to know if their patties are good before I go all the way out there. Has anyone had them?

Where can I get a real vegetarian patty in Toronto?

I went to Jamaica recently and had Ital patties there, and fell in love with them. Is there anywhere in Toronto I can get an Ital patty (or any veggie patty that's actually vegetarian)? All the veggie patties I've found so far are still made with lard.

Closest thing to Jugo Juice's Vanilla Buzz smoothie?

Jugo Juice discontinued their Vanilla Buzz smoothie a while ago. It was the best smoothie I've ever tasted...
I was wondering what the closest approximation would be, either at another smoothie shop or homemade.

Also - Has anyone here ever worked at Jugo Juice? I'd love to know the specific type of vanilla flavouring they used, because it had a unique taste to it.

Thanks!

Pacific Mall - Recs for Mall Snacks + Nearby Resto for Dins

The food court there is amazing. I would stay there for dinner. The booth to the left of Sun's Noodles (can't remember what that one is called) has the best Shanghai Noodles I have ever tasted. The food court on the other side is cheaper and quite good too. There are a couple places that you'll see right away- the first is a big white booth, the two booths to the left are both very good.

edit: just realized I'm too late- I'll leave this up for next time or someone else.

Trying to make authentic, restaurant-style Shanghai noodles... please help?

Thanks, I'll try both of those recommendations and keep in mind that those restaurants are probably not as perfectionistic as I am.
Do you just mix the sugar and soy sauce, or heat them at all?

Thanks for the extensive reply and for going out of your way to help. You seem to be one of the rare people in the wold who can actually TASTE, which is a huge relief.
I'll try both the vegetarian fish sauce and the seaweed idea- I want to get this perfect!

Thanks- I'm planning to pick up a good-quality wok soon (I have a shitty fake one at home) and that will probably make a huge difference. A better stove isn't something I can do at the moment, unfortunately.

The dish. The noodles themselves turned out quite well.

Okay, thanks for the tip- I assumed fish sauce wasn't important because Shanghai noodles had no fish taste to me (which is a stupid assumption, I know). Thing is, I don't know what fish sauce tastes like because I am a vegetarian. Can you describe what it tastes like at all?

Looking for ABC brand Sweet Soy sauce and a few other Asian ingredients

Thanks, I can't believe I forgot about T&T. I've only been to one once (the Cherry Beach location) and I was too busy staring at the live geoducks to look for sauces.

I made this recipe tonight.
I was missing:
-fish sauce (substituted soy sauce for it because I am vegetarian
)-chinese mustard greens
-white pepper

and I was unsure of the difference between "sweet" and "thick" soy sauce because I googled them and they seem to be the same thing, so I used the sweet soy sauce I had for both.

Overall, it turned out well, but it just lacked that addictive quality that restaurant ones seem to have.

My favourite Shanghai noodles are from the Pacific Mall food court and Kom Jug Yuen- those are what I would like my noodles to taste like. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to make my noodles taste more authentic and restaurant quality? Are there specific ingredients I'm lacking that will make my noodles better, or is experience the key?

Thank you!

Looking for ABC brand Sweet Soy sauce and a few other Asian ingredients

I'm looking for ABC brand Sweet Soy Sauce, chinese mustard greens, white pepper, and a good vegetarian substitute for fish sauce.

I'm also curious what the difference between "thick soy sauce" and "sweet soy sauce" is, because I googled them and they sound like the same thing.

Thanks!
