It's too easy to agree with bob96....it's impossible to name a single region for food, given the unbelievable (for any American person, at least, and trust me, I'm not exaggerating) variety and tradition of any single region and city in my country (yes, I am Italian). So my advice is, choose the destination on other basis. Decide what u want to see, the kind of environment, city, place u want to visit. Then, in any part of the country, and especially if u have never experienced Italian food here in Italy, u will have plenty of things to try and u will never ever go away unsatisfied. Just think that u can't try everything, and focus on the typical products and dishes of the place u visit. The other option would be choosing ur destination according to local food traditions matching ur tastes, but believe me, it would be way too difficult. For example, I know u haven't considered my homeland so far (Sardinia), but I can assure u that the variety of cheese u can eat here (especially sheep and goat) is probably bigger than in any other region...that's why I say the second strategy would be very hard... |

I am so surprised to learn how many people here actually know about bottarga...being Sardinian, I consider it a very typical part of my own homeland, which is barely know in most of the country, let alone in NY...but maybe that's why NY is NY after all... |

Please critique my list for Rome Just a couple of little hints for ice cream and such things. Giolitti is indeed one of the best places in Rome for it. Anyway, my personal fav is a tiny place in front of the Vatican Walls (just around the corner from Piazza Risorgimento), no idea of the name but I've been there many times, not a huge place, nor 50 flavs, but ice cream is really good. |

Rome - 4 casual dinners - thoughts on my list please! I have a little suggetsion too, it's not too close to where u are, but it might we worth a little trip, maybe if u like to see St. Peter's square at night (a sight I recommend), u could take a walk on Via Cola Di Rienzo y get at Zi Gaetana. the place is nice, been there few times (last time like one year ago), cool atmosphere (on weekdays u wont need to reserve if u dont get there late, and I suggest u get there around 8 or not much later, which is early for our Italian standards for dinner time). It carries a good mix of traditional food blended with delicate creative cuisine. Do not hesitate to try something that sounds weird, be open, and look for a new taste. U won't be disappointed. Not cheap but not that expensive either I guess. U can look it up on internet and see if it appeals to u. |

Need some new ideas for salmon I have a simple but original way to cook salmon fillets to propose, tried it a couple of times, and it tasted fine, kinda different from the way I usually cook salmon myself (I usually like to cook it in the oven with just a bit of white wine or vodka, not to cover the taste of it at all). |

Ok, time to add my personal experience on this...I'm Italian, live in Italy, and of course I learned my cooking style mainly from my roots, my mother and so on. |

Cozy place in Manhattan for special date :-) Never too late, I will be in NYC again soon, so any suggestion is welcome... :-) |

Thank you so far. Any review on Point 5 (upstairs 915)? the upper deck at Louie's backyard? Rooftop cafè? we might be looking for some place like that too, a cozy wine bar or lounge when we can have a drink and also get something to eat... |

Hi, I will be staying in Key West for a week with my GF, end of May. I'm looking for some hint on restaurants for dinner. We like seafood and latin american food too, nice and cozy places, not too crowded or noisy; a nice view or terrace would be a plus. |

To Eat or Not To Eat, That is My Question Personally, being a dr myself and having travelled more than my fair share of places in the world, I think we should split things a bit. If u search carefully u would probably find that bizarre foods are often less dangerous than u might think....it's just that, let's say, kelp or snails or bull's testicles or jellyfish or dog meat or pork blood (all things I've tried in my life) carry an emotional thrill cause u consider them unusual food, or may be disgusted from the idea of eating them, but actually, they won't be carrying more risks (especially in terms of potential infections) than food u consider normal. It also depends on where u actually eat these things, cause some diseases are epidemic in some parts of the world and don't exist in others... |

Cozy place in Manhattan for special date :-) From what I have seen in pics, the Temple Bar does not exactly look like the kind of place I'm looking for in terms of design (of course I'm not talking about cocktails). One more hint: I assume we won't be going there in the weekend but more probably on some weekday - to avoid too much crowd and difficulties in finding a table or seat. Thanks everyone for ur help and please don't stop! |

Cozy place in Manhattan for special date :-) Seems Angel's share could be a good option for a bar...unfortunately most of these bars don't have decent pics on internet. The 2 Japanese places for food (Matsuri and Sakagura) looks appealing so I'm waiting for a second opinion on them to decide for a dinner place. |

Cozy place in Manhattan for special date :-) I'm coming to NYC this week and I look for a restaurant to bring my gf. It can be anywhere in Manhattan. Looking for a cozy modern trendy place, with good food of any kind, with a slight preference for indian, japanese, seafood but absolutely not italian, I'm italian and I'm a good cook at home myself ;-). Alternatively, it could be a good bar or lounge with good cocktails. What I'm looking for is a place with atmosphere (a good view wouldn't be bad too) and not too loud cause I have some talk to do ;-) |
