Trendy Spots

I'm going to LA with some friends in April and I'm looking for trendy restaurants where we can eat or grab a drink or both....Not sure if there's a thread for this, but I thought I'd get personal opinions before making any final decisions. Preferably a place that's young/hip, price doesn't really matter much...a place where we could potentially see celebs could be fun, but that doesn't really matter so much...Thanks!!

Soy Frozen Yogurt

How funny, I was recently there (before I decided to give up dairy) and completely forgot about that soy-based ice cream - thanks for the reminder!

Soy Frozen Yogurt

I've been trying to eliminate dairy products from my diet, but I am a serious frozen yogurt lover. Does anybody know of any places in the city that have frozen yogurt that's perhaps made from soy milk? Thanks.

Brooklyn Bridge Brunch

Thanks for the suggestions! We ended up at Water Street Restaurant - good food and an even better deal for brunch.

Brooklyn Bridge Brunch

I need a suggestion for brunch right near the Brooklyn Bridge, on the Brooklyn side. Good for a group of about 6. Thanks!

Transporting Italian ices

I'm visiting a friend and driving from Brooklyn to Connecticut, about an hour and 45 min drive and I want to bring ices (Italian ices, the milk ones, not water) but am not sure about how to make sure they don't melt. I'll be purchasing two or three quarts and they're sold in Styrofoam containers. I know that when I get there I can put the ices right into the freezer, but I don't want it to be soup by that time. Any suggestions? Thank you!

Beginner recipes

I'm looking for really simple recipes that I can make for my roommates. I've never cooked before, so it would have to be very basic. We do a lot of chicken dishes, and anything involving vegetables would also be great. Nothing other than chicken or ground beef though when it comes to meat. Thanks!

sunday brunch

Friends from out of town are coming in Sunday for brunch and I need suggestions on where to go in Brooklyn. I thought we'd just do our usual go to, Buttermilk Channel, but it's all booked up for large parties this weekend. I know of many places in the area, but I'd like some opinions on which is the best. It's for 8 people. Thanks a lot!

Late night spots in Park Slope/Prospect Heights.

I'll be in the Park Slope/Prospect Heights area on Wednesday for a late dinner (possibly as late as 11 PM). Any good suggestions? Thanks!

labor day dinner/drinks

I know this is last minute, but I'm desperately trying to figure out a place to go to dinner tomorrow night (sunday). It's my birthday, but I figured there may be something good going on because of Labor Day. Any suggestions? It would be nice for the place to have a lounge feel. I'm open to going somewhere for just appeteizers and drinks, or drinks and dessert, or just drinks! It's just a few girls in our early 20s. Thanks :-)

Dinner Party Suggestions

I'm inviting a few friends (somewhere btwn 6-8) over for a small dinner party before summer ends and we move back to school. We usually go out to eat, but I was thinking about trying to cook for everyone. I don't really know any dishes, and haven't cooked much, so I am looking for fun recipes for a dinner party that would be good for a group. We all eat pretty much everything. Most importantly I need semi-simple ideas, nothing too complex since I haven't much cooking experience. Thanks so much.

HELP with nyc restaurant week summer 2010

My best friend and I are having a get together with our mothers somewhere in Manhattan for dinner. It's during restaurant week and while I love to look through all of the restaurants and menus, I haven't any time to do that this year. I need serious help figuring out a place to go. We are both hip twentysomethings but it can't be anywhere TOO trendy because we will be with our mothers....somewhere cool but sophisticated/elegant with good food. Open to suggestions in all areas of the city and all cuisines. Your help is greatly appreciated!

Two NYC foodies looking for good eats in Boston

Wow! Thanks for those! Checked out all of the sites and now I have to make final decisions, but that's exactly along the lines of what I was looking for.

Two NYC foodies looking for good eats in Boston

My roommate and I will be in Boston for two nights in the beginning of April and are looking to eat at hip and trendy restaurants with good food. If you're familiar with NYC eateries, our favorites are Da Silvano, Spice Market, Chow Bar, Pastis, and Balthazar. We are open to pretty much all cuisine, but atmostphere is just as important.
