I am very curious to try Malaysian Laksa.
Any recommendations in either Brooklyn or Queens?

where to buy Italian Double 00 flour?

I did use it to make pasta. Double 00 flour is the authentic flour that Italians use to make fresh pasta. Semolina is meant for the commercial dried product.

Use the double 00 or all purpose flour for your home cooking needs.

where to buy Italian Double 00 flour?

good one Daniel. But products from europe usually come in 1kg increments, so it will be $16 for 1kg, haha

Thanks@! I went today to Mastellone. What a nice store and they had the flour at $2.59 for a kilo.

Hi,

I live in downtown brooklyn and wondering where to find double 00 flour for pasta making.

celebratory dinner, need restaurant recommendations

good point.

I would say about $100 a person including tax, tip, drinks. would probably buy one bottle of wine to share for the meal.

does that help?

celebratory dinner, need restaurant recommendations

In early June I will be attending my college commencement and afterwards plan on having a celebratory meal with two friends.

I love all kinds of food and would like to find a place that is special but not too expensive.

Commencement is at Jacob Javits center but the location for dinner is flexible, as long as it isnt too far uptown.

Yes I know I am not giving much to work with but I am somehow feeling unsure about what I want.
I would prefer a place that is more about the food rather than the scene (no uber-hip places with rich men and their model girlfriends please!)

recommendations for small wedding rehearsal dinner in brooklyn

After my lovely experience at Aurora, I decided to give Convivium Osteria a try, as I have heard good things about the restaurant, and it is a great location.

I just came back from the restaurant, and have to say I am very unimpressed. The waiter needs and attitude adjustment, the type of person that doesn't make you feel welcome, and after all, a restaurant is a service-oriented business. The other problem was the food: the carciofo alla romana was tasty, but my companion's braised rabbit was flavorless. My pork baby back ribs were just decent.

also off-putting was the fact that the staff spent a fair amount of time speaking to each other in Italian. At one point a customer didn't close the door to the restaurant, and the waiter cursed in Italian, clearly heard by us, (we speak Italian).

The combination of mediocre service and food left me cold.

I ended up at Aurora last night randomly, with a friend, and had a lovely time. It's been a few years since I have eaten here. we sat at the bar, had great wine and I tried the malfatti di zucca, delicious. service from the bartender was great, and the manager gave me a taste of a dessert wine to go with my panzarotti. everything about the experience was wonderful

recommendations for small wedding rehearsal dinner in brooklyn

I was planning on hosting my sister's wedding rehearsal at Prime Meats in Carroll Gardens.
Turns out the no reservation policy extends even to a special request as this.

I like their other restaurant Frankies, but am now slightly soured at the fact that the manager couldn't accomodate us, so I am wondering if anyone has any other places in mind.

We have a group of 12, open to cuisine, and somewhere in the general vicinity from williamsburg south to carroll gardens would be ideal. Some of the guests are from europe and it would be great to have a fun brooklyn vibe for the dinner. It doesnt need to be a formal place.

Thanks all!
