i'm planning my sister's bachelorette in calgary and need some help she isn't a big drinker so the club/bar route is out(thank god) but loves food so i'm looking for a fun restaurant in the vein of joe beef/liverpool house (i live in montreal) where we can dress up and eat delicious food and still get her reasonably wasted! we'll be 10-15, there's no real budget and no one is picky. |

Montreal C'hounder spending a week in Canmore wants rec's i grew up in canmore but have been living in montreal for the past couple years and have worked in the service industry in both. the food culture is completely different. i would recommend crazyweed as they usually have some local products and the calamari is insane, the trough(though i haven't been since they changed ownership a few years ago) for dinner, harvest and the summit cafe for breakfast. i always found tapas too expensive and inconsistent and the railroad deli is nothing special... |

Aux Deux Oliviers - small couscous BYOW on Rachel E. i used to live down the street from aux deux oliviers and it's definitely BYOB. great place. the tagine for two is a steal. |

Banff - americanos, breakfasts and dinners I would have to agree, Canmore/the Bow Valley is incredibly lucky to have coffee of the caliber Communitea serves. Hopefully it catches on! ----- |

Reasonable and tasty eats for a band on tour in AB and SK? summit's "mexican" breakfasts are nothing compared to aroma, the daytime breakfast/lunch restaurant in zona's. the loveliest service combined with the best mexican food ever blows summit out of the water. the chilaquiles verde is incredible. ----- |

Recommendations for dinner in canmore please service/quality/selection at o bistro is very wonky and for the price of dinner it's not worth the considerable risk. that being said their lunches are fairly inexpensive and more interesting than most of the places downtown. for dinner i would highly recommend wild orchid bistro. inventive sushi and lovely staff! |

i ordered the vegetarian spring rolls today and pulled out a big piece of raw chicken. the woman at the counter told me it was tofu(was not) then asked me why i was so upset since i wasn't a vegetarian(i had also ordered wonton soup) and could eat meat, right? will not be going back. |
