New pizza place - owned by Sugo Finally made it to WOP for an early dinner, three of us very fussy Italians ordered the Parma pizza and all three were of the same opinion, the pizza was excellent, the best we have had in Calgary, well worth the visit, the Gelato on the other hand needs work, i.e. sugar. I hope WOP is around for many years as there can never be too many pizza joints. |

The B Day cakes at Yamato on Center Street N. are the best ever, not too sweet but very decadent and a very good selection. Best to go and try a few small pieces at the cafe. |

Where to eat dinner on December 25th in Calgary? I'm sure the Palliser Hotel will be open on Christmas day and the food is decent. |

I agree, if you have been to any of the hutterite colonies that have eggs and or chickens for sale you would never buy from them again. Who ever heard of a twenty pound hormone free chicken? |

Just wait until you are older, have money to eat out, but choose to dress like a schlep and get treated like one, even though the so called fine dining restaurant you just ate at is sub standard at best. One of my son's who will be 18 this week is a very smart and savvy eater as he is well traveled and he too get written off by the so called high end places. |

Had lunch there on Tuesday asked for the chicken schnitzel without the bun ,came with things and a side salad which two of us shared. This is a great place for a great value, very clean, new and full of polka dots. |

The same practice goes on in Calgary where some vendors buy at COSTCO and repackage under their own label. Not only veggies, but anything and everything. |

Is Calgary out of Grey Poupon Dijon Mustard? Can anyone tell me where I can find it. Many stores don't carry it, so who does? |

A new Italian Country Bakery opened on Meridian Road S.E. next to Jugo Juice Corporate Headquarters in the same complex as Mr. Cappuccino. They sell bread by weight and I find the bread to be fantastic, typically European style, Hard crust and lasts for a few days. They are no relation to either companies mentioned above. |

Famoso Pizza coming to Calgary I found this article in the Canadian Pizza Magazine; " Dave Housman won a trip to Las Vegas, $1,000 and a finalist’s spot in the International Pizza Challenge for his Dolce Vesta pizza entry that earned him the title Chef of the Year. " (he is one of the owners of Famoso) |

Calgary farmers market? Is it worth it? I shop at Mercato for quality everything and I still find the farmers market at Currie overpriced for many things and not to mention the parking; it is horrible, or maybe thats just because I like my BMW dent free. |

Some of the other local coffee roasters in the area are Crickle Creek, Cochrane Coffee Traders, Kienna Coffee, Mr. Cappuccino, Canterbury Coffee, Van Houtte and maybe more smaller ones. |
|

There is also a pizza oven in a mobile horse trailer. It was on the 8th ave mall last summer. I think if you google you will find more than one. |

Hunting for a budget espresso machine The only issue with the Gaggia line is the aluminum boiler and you know what they say about aluminum, cheap isn't always the best route to go. |

Do not eat the lasagna, it tastes like it comes straight out of a cardboard box. But the place is charming. |

There is a new place called Avatar (sp?) off Crowchild and Kensington rd. Sorry no address. |

Mercato Calgary - Anyone else find too salty? I personally love Mercato, but some people can be sensitive to salt, maybe try something else next time, or ask the server what they would recommend that is not too salty. |

Well as we all know too well, there are a lot of 'I want to be Italian's' out there. |

Calgary - best Black Forest Cake I recently had the black forest cake from Yamato , they do incredibly decadent cakes, but I like more of a traditional black forest cake, I found theirs to be a bit dry. |
