Food trucks in SD...where are they?

Maybe. But I can't discuss this further without seeing a bank statement or proof of villa ownership somewhere exotic.

Food trucks in SD...where are they?

So true, fakename. I wasn't going to cover the Gobernator at M. German because it's so, y'know, seafoody and they never polish the truck's rims. But I happened to be on my way to a pedicure for my toy poodle and I saw a late-series BMW parked in the dirt lot. So I figured I better jump on that 20-year-old trend before anyone else does. That's why it was in our Best Of Food last year.

Food trucks in SD...where are they?

San Diego's not as food truck-friendly as L.A., Portland, Hawaii or other places. In L.A. they can park on the street for a half hour (two hours if they get a signed "endorsement" from a business in the area). In San Diego, all food trucks have to sell their stuff on private property. They're not allowed to park on the street. A couple of guys are trying to change the law. That's what they did in L.A.--got a lobbying group together and had the laws changed.

James Beard Semifinalists Announced

One S.D. chef is on the list. William Bradley from Addison (at the Grand Del Mar). Never had an even mediocre meal there. Dude can cook.

San Diego PHO?

I personally like Phuong Trang on Convoy. Bonus: The owners, though I've only met them once, are such sweet people. I asked about what they were eating one night, and they brought me over a piece.

Any reviews of JSix?

I love Christian Graves' food. I HATE their dining room. Feels cold and sterile and never full enough. Graves is fantastic with cured meats and fish (he used to work at Faralon in SF). One of the more underrated chefs in town. Wish he was at a different spot.

four nights in San Diego; help with can't miss restaurants

For uniquely S.D. spots:

The Linkery (carnivore haven)
Kitchen 1540 (expensive... but beautiful property in Del Mar... go for lunch and get Paul McCabe's beet salad... holycrap good).
Super Cocina (super divey... but one of the best Mexican holes in the walls in SD)
Rocky's (for a greasy burger and fries)
Phuong Trang (Vietnamese in Convoy)
Yakitori Yakyudori
Farmhouse Cafe
Sushi Ota (or its spinoff, Hane)
Mission Cafe (breakfast)
Hash House A-Go-Go (super long line, tho... breakfast)

Possible Bull Taco Oceanside location opening?

Tis true.

San Diego: Barrio Star

It's a new restaurant by Isabel Cruz. I just talked to her. Here's my bit on it:
