Just home....lovely meal at blink.

Started with tuna tataki and zucchini blossoms, moved on to sable fish and gnocchi, finished with hazelnut nougat and peach Melba ..

It was really good, the fish dish was sublime, polenta was silky and the cauliflower purée like velvet. The tuna appie II could have eaten all night.
The desserts were great too, would have been hard for one to eat all the nougat though...very, very rich.

We appreciated the portion sizes too...not monstrous. Left sated and happy.

Thanks for the input. Just wished we had time to eat at them all.

I did look at Charcut, but I am not feeling as "meaty". Our go to in the past when we visit has been river cafe, so we are looking to change it up.

We settled on Blink, read though many many menus, husband like that he actually understood the menu at Blink, some are getting very pretentious and hard to understand.

Any recommendations for something nice that is walking distance to the bow valley? Interesting creative food, dinner for two with glass of wine $120-140. Thanks

We decided to eat here for our disney experience as the pirates of the caribeean view was so fun for the kids...I had the monte cristo very yummy but a bit greasy. We also tried the jambalaya which was good too. Outside of this we went for Disney's Dole Whips twice, those are a tasty little treat! yummy!

In-n-out...glad we went; now we have been but honestly we found it salty and only ok. When I compared it to a recent night at five guys burgers and fries it was not nearly as good. I am glad we went though!

Self cleaning oven: racks in or out?

They will not slide as nice afterwards. I have foind the best thing is stick thme in a garbage bag overnight, sealed with a small dish of ammonia, they clean up beautifully after that.

Wow that sounds great...what is guancile? Love squash blssoms and chicken livers....I used to live in Pariswhere I was introduced to them ...we would pan fry them and add to a fresh mix of lettuce greens with endive , a light drizzle of red wine vinegar and some olive oil, a quick grind of salt and fresh pepper...mmmmmmmmm

5 Guys Burgers in Calgary?

Thought I would jump in here...WE are in the Hat and went last night with our kids. Tasty indeed, but not perfect. the eats were yummy but a littel dear, two adults and three kids was $50 which to me is a little dear for burgers and fries. they ran out of pickles which I am not sure how you do when you are across the street from two grocery stores....
It is super noisy, it was completely full but to that the stereo was added at a high volume.

The tables are really close together, some schairs you almost needed a shoe horn to get into as the chair behind was so close. the bathrooms were much the same only one sopt to stand in to get the door open ang get out...think rv bathroom.

We did enjoy the food though; tried not to think about the fat and sodium which I cna only imagine to be through the roof. I had a junior burger , bacon cheese, lettuce, fried onions, mushrooms. I think that was it they call it "the lot?"....next time I would skip the mushrooms and have raw onions. My husband had jalapenos I would have that next time too, I snuck one of his and they were tasty on the burger. Cajun Fries were a nice seasoning. Fries are definatley fresh cut so nut crispy liek a precooked /twicecooked frie.

Would I make a road trip for this? Not in a heartbeat, definatley worth visting but driving 5 1/2 hours round trip for never. Just not that much better than burgers I have had elsewhere.

We will be in the area (tourists) three kids in tow. But anticipate being there either on a Sunday or on President's day. Any must have eats that are walking distance to this? Pass on the sushi though the kids do not love it enough. This would be at Lunch time.

Thanks

We are visiting the area in two weeks. stying in Carlsbad but willb travelling to Sea World. I need recommnedations for three suppers. i have three kids...I have gotten AWESOME advise on the LA board for our stay there I am hoping for like advice here.

I would love to go for some great seafood....does not need to be fancy...I will have my three kids, 6,8,10.
Just yum and true to the area. I guess that is the heart of the question what is this area known for? We will probably not do suschi the kids do not love it enough.
We will have a car and can drive, not to the ends of the earth mind you. But don't mind a bit of a jog.
