Artisanal Hot dogs in Houston

Bye the way Good Dog opened a brick and mortar store on Studewood in The Heights...

There hotdogs are made here in Texas, and all condiments are made from scratch in house.

Nathan's is amazing as far as hotdogs go, but not this one. I didn't even consider mentioning it here(albeit you at least gave it a second go). They have natural casings, but they weren't cooked well enough...the girl at the counter just looked at me funny when I asked for mine well done. Texas just isn't a place for hot dogs IMO.

I mentioned Nathans was amazing? Yes, the original Nathan's that started it all in Coney Island(why does James Coney Island call itself that btw?). Not sure what I got here but the hotdogs were barely cooked, and I got regular French fries and not Nathan's fries. That's half the reason to break your diet right there.

Best Jewish style deli in Houston?

I'm originally from NY and when I moved to Houston I had a craving for Pastrami. Went there with a Google Offer last year...thought the place was terrible and I couldn't even use the coupon...so I went back a week later just to get it used and gone and couldn't use it again. Never went back, didn't even care about the money I wasted on the offer as the two sandwiches were pretty lame. Pretty sure it was just Boars Head pastrami. My girlfriends turkey sandwich was mildly better kinda.

Katz's isn't the Katz's I call Katz's(Lower East Side of NY) and I thought was a step or two bellow Kenny and Ziggy's which isn't bad but nothing to write home about.

Revival Market has a sausage they call a hotdog...it's very good, but I'm from Long Island and that was not the hot dog I was looking for.

Happy Fatz makes Hebrew National hot dogs but they're all dressed with weird concoctions...and just don't make it for me.

The food truck someone mentioned had the best hot dog I'd had in quite a while...not Nathan’s but darned good.

Wait for it...

How much are you willing to spend on a hot dog experience? Two franks with sauerkraut and mustard and a side of well-done fries will set you back about $15 or so at Kenny and Ziggy's...but I'll say this much. It was definitely worth it!

Kenmore Stand Mixer vs Kitchenaid/Cuisinart

I saw the cuisinart at bed bath and beyond...felt like a piece of junk, lots of plastic and the top wouldn't stay on on two of them.

Needless to say the Kenmore came out to $190 after coupon codes, sale and bing cash back(after tax). I'll pay closer to $300 for the kitchenaid equivilient. Haven't actually picked anything up so I haven't been charged yet but the price isn't too shabby.

btw shipping to kitchenaid after the warrenty is up is quite pricy as well. Eh... who knows.

Kenmore Stand Mixer vs Kitchenaid/Cuisinart

Just noticed Kenmore also has a stand mixer but don't see many reviews on it. Anyone own one? They're in the same price range as the Kitchenaid/Cuisinart, accept kitchenaid attachments and have a 5 year warrenty for about $250. Buying something this week and ohy...the decision is killing me for some unknown reason :)

Kitchenaid Gearbox's - 2009

I'm also considering the 5qt Cuisinart honestly...the tilt towards Kitchenaid is if I buy it from Costco I know I can always exchange for another one should anything happen to it. Realistically I want the Bosch but out of my budget for the Kitchen Machine and they don't make the Compact anymore :(

Kitchenaid Gearbox's - 2009

I could sift through(and have) emails on kitchenaid's for days so I thought I'd make a nice easy post for others to pick out on the subject. I'm interested in picking up a Kitchenaid mixxer, particularly the one Costco is selling. I've read all sorts of issues about the plastic gearbox's cracking and just saw one post about them now having a metal gearbox so could someone tell me please if these are worth buying again? I really don't have the extra dough(Ba bum) to spend on a Bosch but don't want to buy something I know will be a lemon.

Appreciate any help with this...thanks
Matt
