aperitivi in Rome-quick help please :) We are currently in Rome, and staying on Via del Babuino near the Spanish Steps. Any ideas for aperitivi nearby? |

We are in the 2nd district at the moment, and looking for a good restaurant for our last night. Nothing too expensive, just a good neighborhood bistro would be great! Thanks for your quick help! |

Checchino dal 1887 or Il Convivio Thanks for the info. Ristorante Cacciani looks wonderful, too. Oh my goodness. The more I look, the more I get confused :) Does one need to join the "buon ricordo" for receive the plate? I would be interested in doing so if need be. |

Checchino dal 1887 or Il Convivio I have posted before about finding the perfect restaurant for our 25th Anniversary on June 1st in Rome. After doing tons of research, we are now trying to decide between Checchino dal 1887 or Il Convivio. I realize they are very different types of restaurants, both both appeal to us for different reasons. For those of you that have been to both recently, which would you suggest for the most special dining experience? Il Convivio is closer to the apartment we are renting, but we are very open to taking a cab, if need be. We will be dining with our 2 adult children. |

Italy: It's More Than Just Rome, Florence and Venice... Joe, But following Rome, we will be renting a villa in the country for 7 days in a town called Radicondoli, which is west of Siena. Any suggestions in that area? Thanks! |

Finalizing plans for dinner in Rome Thanks for all of the comments. I guess what we are looking for is a small-ish, authentic, nice, neighborhood place. Nice atmosphere...a place where they might appreciate it is a special milestone for us. I like the fact that Il Bacaro does not have an English translation in its website:) We have a knack of finding places we like pretty quickly when traveling, but we will be flying in from Paris on our anniversary, and so might not have our bearings quite yet. If any one has any other ideas, we are definitely open. |

25th Anniversay dinner in Rome I had posted awhile back on the Paris board, thhinking our itinerary would have us there for our actual anniversary. Now that our plans are complete, we will instead be in Rome. We are looking for a non touristy, authentic Roman restaurant, with a warm atmosphere. We will be staying in an apartment at Via del Babuino, not too far from the Spanish steps. Hopefully we can find something fairly closeby. Any suggestions on a place that we can enjoy an evening for our special night? |

Thanks so much for your comments, Souphie and John. After posting I realized that "amazing and once in a life time" is so very subjective, so I apologize. Perhaps it is best to tell you of our favorite restaurant in our area: All time favorite is Chez Panisse: wonderfully prepared regional cuisine. So no, we are not looking for monkey brains (or beef foam, for that matter). We are looking for a warm atmosphere that serves regionally inspired dishes, in a decidedly non-touristy environment. |

Husband and I and probably at least one of our adult children will be in Paris for our 25th Anniversay in early June. I am looking for and amazing, once in a lifetime type meal. We are huge foodies from SF bay area, but it is my first trip to Paris, so don't know where to start. Any suggestions? Thanks for any help! |
